Fee: Yes
Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: A magnificent cathedral that houses Jonathan Swift's remains (he wrote Gulliver's Travels). It is the only remaining cathedral in Ireland with a daily sung services. A small entrance fee is charged for tourists and all money raised goes back to paying for the upkeep of the building.

We decided to check out St. Patrick's during the cathedral's evensong service at 5:30, not knowing much about it except that there would be music. It was more like a mass than we'd expected, with readings, prayers, and hymns (but no homily or communion). The acoustics for the choir were rich, the music was lovely, and there was no admission fee, all pluses. But the downside of visiting during this time is that you will be ushered out once the service ends, leaving no time to explore the interior, and photos are forbidden. If you want to better see the inside of the cathedral and the gardens, definitely arrive earlier!

Awesome Church but pricy to enter. Thank goodness the Baptistry was open and pictures can be taken. Outside grounds are comfortable and nice to sit and contemplate.

We didn't do the tour but did take a long time walking through this historic cathedral! Enjoyed it all. Rich with history! A nice gift shop. Crowded yes, but we were not in a hurry so it really didn't bother us. Take the time to enjoy the outside park.

This is a beautiful church with a 45 minute tour if desired. It has a good gift shop. The church is also very crowded and as in Dublin, beware of pickpockets I'm sad to say in a church of worship

My wife and I were in Dublin on vacation. St. Patrick's church was within walking distance of our hotel. The park surrounding the church was peaceful and calm. The interior was amazing if I can put that into words correctly. A must see!
