Owner description: Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain’s most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!

Quite a long steam train journey through some lovely scenery. What I found particularly amusing were the crowds of people dotted all over the hillside to watch and photograph us going over the viaduct. They probable had a better view at that point as you cannot stipulate what side of the train your seat will be as they don’t know which way the carriages will be connected. We enjoyed it and would do it again if in the area.

Very scenic journey which could be done by regular services at a much lower cost.
OK it was steam hauled which appealed to enthusiasts, but the seats were uncomfortable and the inside of the coaches were dirty. If you want the views, use a Scotrail service and admire the steam loco at the station.

Great fun and some superb scenery but don't stick your head out of the window as you might lose it. Make sure you get some champagne for the trip, believe me, others will be doing it. Make sure to pre book.

Enjoyed the much sought after train ride through the Highland’s with the family. Book early to avoid disappointment. Lovely afternoon/evening spent with friendly service from the staff. The restaurants were packed when we arrived in the fishing town of Mallaig, we should have secured a seat and eaten before exploring the town as we struggled to get anything except takeaway fish & chips. Lovely family friendly activity.

Had been on a few steam trains many years ago as a child but have no memories of those journeys so this was quite a lot of fun. Specially the anticipation of crossing the viaduct and trying to take photographs. We were luckily on the correct side of the train and managed to get a few good photos and lovely views along the way.
