Description: At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We don’t do over-complicated recipes or 'scrimpy' portion sizes. We’re all about well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food. Zizzi Royal Exchange Square is set in the heart of Glasgow's bustling city centre, just off Buchanan Street in the calm of Royal Exchange Square in Merchants City. The restaurant has taken over the rear entrance of the former Borders book shop and with it's feature neoclassical columns and grand entrance you can't miss it! With the restaurants stunning architecture and design features referencing the building's history; local Scottish artists have adorned it's walls with exclusive paintings nodding to the building and city's heritage. The restaurant boasts the first in house Zizzi bar where you will be able to choose from an extensive selection of wines, prosecco cocktails and Italian Beer. To complete your experience, you will be able to watch as your food is freshly prepared in the open plan kitchen with an authentic wood-stone oven as it's centre piece.

Quite a while since we've graced zizzi's so pleasantly surprised at the updated interior since last here. Table for two with sight of the open pizza oven in middle of the lower floor makes for an interesting meal. Decided to have the calamari starter, serious portion size no skimping here. The main was the carne piccante calzone with a smokey chilli infused pizza base, which really must be sampled words just don't do it justice. Finished off meal with the lemon & raspberry cheesecake. Staff are pleasent and not in any way pushy just let you get on with your meal.

Eight members of my extended family dropped in for a drink and some food, we hadn’t booked but they managed to fit us in as it looked very busy.
We all shared various pizzas and I was surprised at how good they were, I had never been to a zizzi before but will definitely return.
The gin cocktails were delicious..
A geeat afternoon in a lovely bright buzzing restaurant.

I came with my brother on Thursday. We had a calzzone piccante and meatballs al forno for mains, and a chocolate and banana calzzone with a chocolate melt for desserts. The food was excellent as always and Andrea and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely come back!
