You'll need at least half a day to do this place justice, and probably longer. Everything you ever wanted to know about Scotland is contained within, and quite a bit you didn't know you wanted to know but are glad you found out

Fabulous place to visit on a rainy or hot day, free entry and plenty to do and see for the children and adults. Has a bit of everything for everyone- fashion, cars, animals , planes, dinosaurs, art

It’s great

A large but manageable museum mainly in an historic building but with a modern extension. We started from the roof terrace to get a view of the city and worked down the floors. It’s an eclectic selection from the Lewis chess pieces through to Tim Peake’s space capsule (here for a few months) via Vivienne Westwood clothes. Something for everyone. Pleasant cafe too. Plan on a couple of hours for a decent look around.

What a place fantastic we went with a 14 year old and loved it !! It is over many floors with lifts if needed we were choosy which exhibits we went and looked at, my son particular enjoyed the science part. We would definitely recommend and it’s free we did not eat here as the brassiere seemed a little dear from lunch so went out side and ate in a cafe, only to find on the second floor there was also a cafe.

The building itself is a work of art. Don't miss the room dedicated to Scottish history and make sure to visit the Millennial Clock. We even went to the roof and saw amazing views of the city.
