Arrived last night 01/05/18 at Edinburgh Waverley
Train was delayed and instead of 31 minutes for my connection I had 3
Ran all the way despite being over 65 along with another 8 passengers
Got within 30 foot of train to Aberdeen , guard and despatcher saw us , the former stepped on train and closed the doors
This was the last train to Aberdeen
When I confronted the despatcher he told me I should have arrived earlier
I explained I was on the Virgin Train from Peterborough which was delayed and arrived 3 minutes earlier
His reaction” We’re Scotrail and I don’t give a damn about Virgin’
Had to find a hotel costing £100 for the night and catch a train in 02/05/18
Great customer service Scotrail !
Hope my 8 unknown companions managed to get to their destination no thanks to Scotrail and their belligerent jobsworthy staff

It's a beautiful place to arrive/depart from Edinburgh. Though it's quite large with many platforms it's well signposted and staff are more than happy to help. There are your usual coffee shops and other places to eat with a Weatherspoons attached as well as a shopping centre with fast food places. they have lifts and 4 entrances so you can leave based on where you aim to go all with ease of cases etc. Trains usually on time (as best as possible) and it's lovely and clean even the bathrooms.

We traveled up the west coast with Virgin trains to Edinburgh, excellent service and really impressed with Edinburgh and its main station. It’s ok flying, but you can’t get into the very centre of the city, any quicker than by train.

I arrived from London and although not in a hurry everyone else was! Its a busy station and unbeknownst to me the taxi rank has moved to outside the station by market street.

My thanks to the lovely staff at the Virgin East Coast station lounges for their help.

First class travel is still available on the East coast line, when so many of the other train operators in the UK have dropped all attempts to provide anything other than a slightly wider seat.

First class lounges are to make a comeback at least on the major stations on the East coast line owned and run by Virgin. Edinburgh, Newcastle, Kings cross London already have them. Hurrah. So i have been led to believe....

This station is well placed to get to most GB cities and is right in the middle of Edinburgh.

I took The Flying Scotsman on Monday from London’s King Cross To Edinburgh Waverley and the return sector is in progress as I write this.

A comfortable journey in either direction with limited stops.

Edinburgh Waverley is one of Scotland’s largest train stations and has 20 platforms serving destinations across The United Kingdom. It is centrally located and easily accessible with several entry and exit points leading into Edinburgh City Centre.

The station arcade offers a range of cafes, restaurants and retail outlets. Access to / from platforms to the main concourse is either by way of steps or Lifts and signage is excellent.
