Definitely not four star! Filthy, dirty rooms. Firstly though communication is seriously lacking in staff. We booked two rooms to be together. We were given rooms on separate floors and told that was all that was available. The executive room we had was not as advertised by hotel photos. Had a separate, tiny toilet that was filthy. Splashes of bodily excretions were up the wall and behind the door. The main bathroom was small with a very small cramped bath. The tap for the bath was broken, kept spinning round. The sink mechanism to lift the plug was broken so had to be levered out with fingernail. Sewage smell in bathroom. Bath not cleaned, had makeup and hair in. Mould in shower grout. Shower leaked all over the floor causing slip hazard. No working extractors in toilet or bathroom. Bathroom steamy and overheated because of this. Two tiny towels, which I thought were hand towels and one bath mat provided. The towels also smelt unclean and caused a rash on my skin as soon as I used them. The room heating/ cooling mechanism did not work. Very noisy hotel, what with disco music late and also people and kids running around late in the night, up and down corridors. (My husband and I shared the one set of earplugs thanks) Breakfast was awful. Had to queue for food. Fatty sausage and bacon. Foul juice. Cramped. crowded breakfast area. Room keys failing meant a trek to reception. Asked for assistance but cheeky response from one staff member. I feel the experience we had fell short of the four star stay that I expected. I did complain to head office about the misrepresentation with our room bearing no resemblance to photos on the hotel website. I was offered forty quid off another stay. Hilarious. On contacting the hotel services ombudsman I was told that never get a response from this hotel group. I will try Trading Standards in Cardiff next.
