In all the travelling we have done this is the worst welcome we have ever had at any accomodation. The receptionist barley said hello and did not smile once.
Us: 'Hi we know we're to early to check in but just wondered if there was somewhere we could sit and have a drink.'
Receptionist: What's your name?
Well you can't go to your room till 2pm.
Us: We're not asking to check in early just somewhere to sit and have a drink.
Receptionist: The bar won't be open for another 10 minutes but you can find somewhere to sit.
Will you be eating in the restaurant tonight? We're not sure. Well if you want to you'll have to let us know soon as we have other groups coming in.
Us:May we have a look at the menu then?
Receptionist: Well no it won't be available for about another hour.
After giving our car registration and signing paperwork we left and come back when it was okay to check in.
Our room continued in the theme of unwelcoming. Old, worn out and in much need of some TLC. Torn curtains that were paper thin. A duvet tucked into the mattress base that had stains all around. Old worn out furniture. It was clean. The view could have been ok if the windows were clean.
The bed could double as a trampoline.
We didn't book for dinner and we thought it was quite funny that they wanted to know in advance because at dinner time there were only a few tables occupied.
We paid $349 aud £200 gbp for a two night stay here. Given the quality of room and level of service was certainly overpriced.
The young woman serving a good hot breakfast was lovely. The cleaner smiled and said good morning.
The only time we saw any other staff is when they were smoking and checking there phones just outside the reception door.
When we went to leave all there was is a slot to drop your key in. Again no customer service what so ever.
This place has so much potential and with some TLC and friendly staff it could be a gem, as the area is just so beautiful.

We stayed overnight Saturday/Sunday and loved this hotel. The views are spectacular and the setting is lovely and quiet. The hotel itself is nice but is in need of some modernisation. It is a little dated but the current owners only took it over in October 2017 so hopefully the updating will come soon. We only had breakfast which was nice enough. The rooms were nice and spacious although the bath/shower settings in both rooms didn’t quite work correctly. Just a tip for reception staff, if you are asked for the number of a taxi service, offer to call the taxi for the guest and don’t scribble a number down on a random piece of paper. None of this detracted from a lovely stay and somewhere where we will definitely come back to again.

We went for dinner with friends, for us it was our first visit. We were very impressed with the whole establishment. We had the three course dinner, and it was super. The staff were friendly and attentive, and made us very welcome. We will definitely be returning! Well done team!

Went on a Sunday for lunch with family - everything was excellent - service, food, value especially view.
Recommeneded it to friends who also shared same opinion. Grounds & walks are pleasant as close to canal which is a World Heritage site.

Had a weekend meal at the Bryn Howel restaurant with extended family. Wonderful location, fantastic food from the 3 course set menu and great wines from the wine list. The service was second to none and the staff quickly and with the minimum of fuss rectified one dish that was below par.

A great dining experience where the quality was punching way above the prices on the menu.

I wish them every success in their new venture and hope to see the Bryn Howel as a dining destination within the area.Thoroughly recommended.
