We had a lovely stay. Excellent views of the river and bridges. Also a lovely view from the restaurant. Evening meal and breakfast were generous and well cooked. Hotel is very clean. Some areas maybe need a little more modern decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Shout out to Mark on reception who was a star.More

The view from the room over the Tyne was stunning. The room was large, although some of the furniture and fittings are getting a bit tired, and it had everything we needed (USB charging, Chromecast TV).
The food was excellent. The three-course evening meal was wonderful and the breakfast has proper sausages and crispy bacon.
Niamh and Danielle on Reception are a lively combination of bubbly, fun personalities and efficient facilitators, providing an accessible interface between the customer and the hotel.

Our daughter is at university in Newcastle so we have stayed at the Copthorne a few times in the past 18 months, each time has been a pleasant stay.
This time we had our son and his partner fly in from Netherlands and join us at the Copthorne for 5 mights holiday. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the two ladies from the restaurant Liz and Janet deserve a special mention They could not have done anymore for us, nothing was too much trouble for them. As there were five of us for breakfast , they reserved a table for us, arranged for poached eggs and gave us good advice and tips on where to go.
The hotel is in a fabulous location on the quayside, great views of the Tyne and bridges

We decided this hotel for the location, on the riverside with 5 or 6 minute walk into the centre.
Parking in the multi-storey attached to the hotel was so easy, with a lift straight down into the hotel foyer (£10 for 24 hours)
The staff were so pleasant and helpful (proper northerner’s) were were given room 207 which was a standard double room, but was a great size, overlooking the river and bridges, with en-suite with bath and a very comfortable bed.
At night it was extremely quiet peaceful night considering it was a Friday night, proper solid floors with no creaks or other noises that can ruin your stay.
On the negative side (and I have to point out that we will definitely be returning here) but yes it all needs a little updating, but for us the hot water took an age to come through and was a little intermittent!
However, do not let this put you off because we are too fussy at times and what is important is you get a great nights sleep in a good sized comfortable room, the breakfast is great, self serve, with everything from cooked breakfast, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, cakes, cheeses and meats and a great selection of drinks.
Hopefully next year when we return we can turn this into 5stars.
I used to say there’s nowhere better than Liverpool for a night out and shopping, but now I’m not so sure, Newcastle is fabulous and so are the people, they are friendly and fun, and have great shops and bars and restaurants.

The Copthorne is a little dated now especially the bathrooms.
However ,this is more than made up for by a fantastic river view and the staff who were excellent.
All of the staff including catering, maintenance staff, reception and management were friendly, amiable and professional.

As with all businesses within the hospitality industry, refurbishment progress in some areas has been delayed through the devastating impact of COVID over the past three years. There are extensive plans in place for further public area and bedroom works, which are being finalised at present. We had a very comfortable room overlooking the river. The parking was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Elizabeth in the dining room was particularly helpful with a good sense of humour.
