Close to, yet away from the hustle and bustle of Ecclesall Road, Gigi's sits on the tranquil Oakbrook Road, just down from Hangingwater traffic lights. Illuminated with tasteful golden Christmas lights it is otherwise be easy to miss as you approach from Rustlings Road. We received the usual warm welcome one expects of an Italian restaurant where the focus is on good home cooking. As well as the broad range of fish, meat and pasta dishes, the specials included Venison, Halibut in Lobster sauce or Crab Risotto. The main dishes include a separate plate of seasonal veg. There is a tempting range of desserts which includes tiramisu and pannacota, and house wines are of a good quality. The bill comes with truffles and limoncello. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff enthusiastic and attentive, which all combines to make this little undiscovered gem one of my favourite restaurants.
