This is well worth a visit in York and one of the few attractions I have visited that caters for all ages. You are taken on a ride via a cable car through a Viking settlement, where the Vikings are portrayed as civilised settlers, not pillaging hordes. The commentary is excellent and young and old will learn something new I am sure. The final destination is to a museum where there are a number of interesting exhibits including three skeletons which have revealed much about the Vikings' way of life. It is a very hands on for children, easily accessible for older people and the staff are most amiable, ready to help and explain. At £11 for an adult some may say it is expensive, but the admission fee allows for a further visit. I thought it was good value for money as I learned a great deal and it altered my view of the Vikings.

It becomes busy and I didn't pre-book. I suggest in peak holiday times, you do!

An excellent venue with a explanation of the archeological discoveries of Viking life in York. The animatronics of the Viking Village was very realistic and showed the history/life of the villagers based on the archeology. I would recommend pre booking - if that is available because you can jump the queue and out of the weather.

Wandered past and decided to check this out. The main attraction is a ride through the underground area where they reconstructed the old viking town based on details from the archeological dig, complete with realistic mannequins. The exhibition area is small but detailed, with the even smaller gift shop offering interesting souvenirs.

The Museum is excellent is worth the visit the whole visit last about 90 minutes. The admission charges are reasonable fair If you buy a York Archaeology Trust Card you can have free admission to both Richard 111 and Henry V11 Experience as well which makes good value for money are you can joined the trust. The items you can are well presented throughout the site. The Narration is excellent and the museum it self is modern it's appeals to everybody who interested in Viking History from the very young to more mature people and the Staff dressed up in Viking Costume and there are very Knowledgeable and helpful

Brilliant for littluns, teens and grown-ups. You learn so much without even realising it. Starts with a little train trip through history and some spookily realistic houses, people and animals from the Viking era and ends with a leisurely wander round the exhibits of finds while the most knowledgable folks tell you all you need to know. Some hands on stuff too from interactive iPad stuff to being able to strike your own Viking coin which you then get given in a lovely little folder. A really beautiful memory to take away. Could have stayed for hours. Oh, and a Viking poo is one of the exhibits! Just brilliant. If visiting Yorkshire this is a must!
