We were treated royally during our 4 night stay earlier in August, from the moment we arrived (way before check in time) until we checked out.
All the staff made a difference by being thoughtful and personal. Nothing was too much trouble. The concierge and reception staff were full of suggestions. The restaurant staff were attentive, friendly and professional. The chef obviously took great pride in the food produced, and the flavours were matched by the presentation.
Our room was huge with a 4-poster bed and lovely bathroom. We had a real coffee machine and the whole place had a very luxurious homely feel.
For once, we really didn't want to go home.
Keep doing what you are doing...please.
And thank you.....we will be back.

Room tip: This is a historic building. The staircase from the first to the second floor is quite steep and whilst it is safe, care is needed.

We stayed for a very special occasion and were thoughtfully upgraded on arrival. There were lovely touches like sweets and a fruit bowl for us, even though the decor of multiple ornaments / antiques may well not be quite to our taste, it was clean and we enjoyed having a private garden and bigger sitting room to also enjoy. The grounds are beautifully maintained and breakfast is well presented and filling. It is well situated being being in the countryside, yet 5 minutes to the York park and ride and 10 minutes drive into York itself really helped us explore the area too. Thank you.

We had a small family party to celebrate my father’s 95 birthday. From our first contact with the hotel and throughout our visit, I cannot praise the hotel staff too highly. The staff were quietly attentive and went the extra mile in meeting and then exceeding our expectations - including packing slices of the birthday cake into 20 separate boxes!
We stayed in bedrooms in the stable block - a combination of small singles and larger doubles - all well appointed and comfortably furnished. The hotel is grand and very comfortable. We used the sumptuous lounge for afternoon tea, and then private use of the library for pre-dinner drinks before retiring to a beautiful small private dinning room for dinner. I would highly recommend Middlethorpe Hall for a luxurious stay in a beautiful country house hotel.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Middlethorpe. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, would highly recommend taking a walk in the grounds or having a drink in the beautiful sitting room. The staff were so helpful and friendly, they really went out of the way to make our trip feel special. The meals are served in a gorgeous dining room with wonderful tableware which adds a touch of luxury. I could not fault the meals, in particular the evening meal was truly spectacular. Our room was very comfortable, although a little warm as it was on the top floor, but we just slept with the windows open. Although Covid restrictions were in place, they did not interfere at all with the stay and made us feel very safe.

There is a bus stop across the road from the hotel which makes it very easy to get into York. We enjoyed the York passes provided by the hotel in the offer we booked, through these we visited 3 attractions and rode the sightseeing bus for free.

Room tip: Parking is available. Bus stop close by to get into York, although if you go in the evening it is fairly cheap to park your car in the city centre

This fine Georgian House with extensive gardens and grounds is beautifully decorated with fine service from the team. The food is excellent and fine wines are available to complement this. The spa includes a decent-sized pool, jacuzzi, steam room and exercise room.

The staircase to the first floor is impressive, the route to the second floor is narrow and winding – presumably for the servants originally. Fortunately, there was a tiny lift that we could use. Our room on this floor included two steps into the bathroom.

The other downside of the hotel is that there is a main road at the end of the grounds, which means that there is constant traffic noise when you sit outside to enjoy a drink.
