Review of Abbey Wharf

Abbey Wharf
Ranked #70 of 225 Restaurants in Whitby
Description: Abbey Wharf's restaurant comfortably seats over 250 guests, in our beautifully refurbished premises. As well as tables for groups of various sizes within our main seating area we also have room for diners who prefer something a little more 'al fresco'. With an extensive balcony overlooking the harbour and out towards Whitby's famous East and West Piers, Abbey Wharf is a wonderful location from which to watch the world go by. Upstairs, our mezzanine level with its own bar serves as overflow from the main restaurant, as well as providing a space which can be hired for private parties and functions, giving an added level of privacy. The Abbey Wharf Bar is stocked with all that you would expect from a quality restaurant and bar. With a traditional range of beers, wines and spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks available, Abbey Wharf caters for all tastes. However, alongside the usual suspects, Abbey Wharf is pleased to specialise in an excellent choice of world beers and spirits.

When the evening sun is out this is the place to have an evening drink outside.

I suspect the outside area could be for smokers and there were a few the views are wonderful.

The drinks were a little pricey especially with mixers at £2 a bottle of tonic.

The thing that let it down was the mess left outside. Glasses and food plates were left for the hour we were there.

It was funny when a member of staff came outside collected a bunch of glasses but left dirty plates to fester in the sun.

Shame this aspect has Been overlooked

Great restaurant in an enviable setting, fabulous food, helpful staff and ginormous gins :) Highly recommend, we were seated close to the balcony and so had a great view out on the harbour. Wasn't planning on going and would have missed it if we hadn't been specifically looking for it because it had what looked like a kind of scaffolding around it so I thought it was closed but it was open and we were very pleased we persevered.

This place serves the best fish (haddock) and chips I have ever had! Great views and always busy so do book. Staff are young and friendly and are more than happy to help.

Waited to be seated....no staff spoke or seated us. Sat ourselves eventually but whilst waiting for service heard and saw several meals being returned.......what’s wrong this time was the waitresses comment. We left to find somewhere that wanted our custom. Very poor.
