I been in London for a short time and i stayed in Grand Royale . Hotel is beautiful, staff is kind, but rooms are small . I want to thank the staff, which was polite and friendly . Especially i want to say thank you to Dorin, who work like luggage porter and been there when i came . He knows very good russian,and helped me to check in because i don't speak english language,now i use google translate to write this text .At the beggining i was angry cause of rooms size , but this boy explained me that this size is standart for London, and this hotel is one of the best . So i got calm and began to enjoy my trip . I will come back in this hotel on 29th june, i liked it . Regards, Roman .

Many thanks to Razvan and Emma!!
We were only here for 1 night but it was lovely, nice toiletries and amazing breakfast following morning. Staff were lovely and courteous and helped us arrange our taxi. A great base for seeing London.

Historical building modernised with air conditioning but retaining the original grandeur.
We liked it for the location and found the bedroom comfortable with the usual kettle etc plus fruit and biscuits.
Breakfast in a light and airy room was a very good buffet.

I needed economical (cheap!) hotel accommodation for 1 night a few weeks ago to meet a friend in London. Grande Royal came up and looked good value for money so I booked (through LateRooms). Then I read TripAdvisor reviews: while 95% were very positive it's always the negative ones that catch your attention so I was quite apprehensive by the time I arrived.

I needn't have worried. The building is in a very attractive street as others have said the communal areas have a lot of character. I sat and had a drink in the bar which is where the theatre/stage used to be.

On arrival I was advised that I had been upgraded from the single room I'd booked to a deluxe double. It was a totally acceptable room but it was quite compact so two people would likely have tripped over each other. Apart from that I have no complaints: the room was clean and comfortable; the window opened and the a/c was effective. Again, the bathroom was quite small but it was clean and everything worked. If I'd been staying longer I'm sure I would have made use of the 'handy' phone - a great idea!

All in all I'm happy to recommend this hotel as it's hard to find accommodation in central London for this price. It's not quite 4* but better than 3* to be fair. As long as you're not looking for 5* luxury for a 3* price (as some reviewers seem to be!)

The staff were all very kind and extremely helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. One of the things I absolutely loved was that there was a smart phone provided in my room that I could take with me during the duration of my stay. I am from the United States and had a very limited plan/service in London, so that phone was a lifesaver (getting directions, looking up nearby restaurants, etc.)
The building was absolutely beautiful and located very close to an underground stop, which I used daily.
