Owner description: ZSL London Zoo is packed full of wonder and amazement, with over 650 species of animals to meet and thousands more surprising and fascinating facts just waiting to be discovered. Find yourself face-to-face with our Asiatic lions and our friendly giraffes whilst they enjoy a spot of lunch. Wander through our Madagascan shrub forest and see how many of our ring-tailed lemurs you can spot before heading down to B.U.G.S to quiz our insect experts on the importance of insects to our ecosystem. Then, if you're feeling brave, you can get up close and personal and take a Spider Selfie with our resident arachnids in Europe’s only walk-through spider experience. Not to mention firm favourites Gorilla Kingdom, Penguin Beach and Tiger Territory. This is a place where fun days help us fund raise. Where your visit will help support our conservation work in over 50 countries around the world. Where really great days out can make a really positive difference to the wildlife we work to protect.

A very mixed visit. We had the meet the giraffes experience. Really very good. Loved it. The rest of the zoo is a bit hit and miss. Undoubtedly constrained by funds the zoo seems to be shipping out many animals to whipsnade where there is much more space. Would we go again? Probably.

We had a party of 9 and spent 6 hours in the zoo. There were lots of things to do and lots to do. The only downfall was a lack of sit down cafes and restaurants. The restaurant near the shop was so busy we were unable to find seating for all of US.

This was a trip taking our grandson for his first look at it. I hadn't been since a primary school trip many years ago. In the meantime we have been fortunate enough to visit many of the top zoos in the world even though we often have mixed feelings about the captive animals argument.
I had actually kept my expectations quite low for some reason so on that basis have to say the day was very pleasing indeed.
We picked a moderate day weather wise and got lucky with most of the animals being visible and some like the beautiful tigers being within inches, albeit through glass.
We do care about animal welfare and allowing for their situation were happy with the condition and surroundings of all we saw.
We ate in the terrace cafe which suprised us with good quality, well priced food and friendly staff.
The time flew in and our grandson loved it which is the main thing. It is not the best zoo we have ever seen but as i said earlier, we have been spoilt. It is very decent, and well worth a visit.
If you are able to travel in by train then try to avail of a great 2for1 offer.

Living not far from London zoo we have been here many times with the family. It’s a fantastic day out and highly recommended.
We often take lunch with us but the restaurant is reasonably priced and have a large variety of food.
I usually drive as it’s really easy to park and just a short stroll to the main entrance (although like anywhere in London, it can take a while to drive there depending on the traffic!)
The zoo animals always seem well cared for with the Tiger enclosure being a family favourite. The only animals I feel sorry for is the Zebras as they have only a small paddock (and with us being regular visitors to ZSL Whipsnade zoo we usually see them with loads of space to frolic around!) other than that it’s an enjoyable day where the staff all know their stuff and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Will be going again in a few weeks and plan to become annual pass holders.

Went with my parents and 1 year old son as I had visited the zoo previously and really enjoyed it but was left very disappointed this time - It was bad weather so understand that the animals take shelter but there just seemed to be absolutely nothing at the zoo. Even with the animals inside there seemed very few, the facilities were poor - I think there is just one cafe and we only found 1 set of toilets which weren't particularly clean.
Positive - the butterfly sanctuary is lovely but all in all a let down and would not go back.
