Just back from a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Cragwood. The staff were efficient and very friendly, particularly the barman and the waiting staff at dinner and the food is top notch. We've recently eaten at a Michelin starred restaurant and the food at Cragwood runs it very close, it really is that good ! Our room was smart, clean and spacious with a lovely view. All in all, a great night away, can't wait to go back

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 20. a smart room in a quiet part of the hotel

Just a wonderful stay. Superb service, clean luxurious room, stunning views of lake Windermere, and the building is a work of art in and of itself. The hotel is midway between Windermere and Ambleside on the main road between the two towns, very convenient. If you've got a few extra quid to spend, upgrade from that B&B you're thinking of staying at and splash out on a trip here. You will not be disappointed.

Stayed: May 2017

We walked here on a whim as we were staying at nearby WhiteCross Bay. Its only 10 minutes away along the main road.
We were very casual dressed but were greeted like royalty and shown through to the bar and seating areas. We sat outside overlooking the gardens and lake - all very beautiful. We had drinks and a scone each with coffee... just what the doctor ordered. they were amazing.
The staff were just the right amount of attentative, and the manager approached us to say there may be some tractor noise soon and offered to move our drinks to avoid us any trouble. There is also a lovely path taking you down to the lakeside too.

We would definitely call here next time for a full lunch or evening meal.

Brockholes visitor centre is also 2 minutes walk away right next door and has some nice lakeside paths too.

Room Tip: We only ate here

We had a 1 night stay here in April as a Xmas gift. Have to agree with just about all the reviewers. It is an excellent country house hotel. The staff were polite and friendly throughout our stay. We were welcomed with a cream tea served in the bar with a view over lake Windermere. The room was modern, airy, comfortable and spotlessly clean.
The hotel has numerous guest lounges, some with real fires and one is a library. A terrace leads out to lawns and a woodland walk in the grounds down to lake Windermere. Its in a grand setting.
A full breakfast was served the following morning from an extensive breakfast menu in one of two dining rooms.
All in all, great value for money for the experience of a top quality country house hotel.
