Booked a last minute review for myself and my wife. It's a beautiful location but a little bit up itself for what it was. Dirty marks on the carpet and scratch/tear marks on headboard.
Breakfast was very average with good looking but bland sausages. Staff and service was good in the hotel but was very unhappy about the Spa.
Booked a full body Swedish massage for my wife and was so disappointed when she came out.
Her neck, shoulders, face arms and feet were not done. She was convinced that the masseuse was on her phone as her legs were done one handed and she kept stopping. I wanted to go back in and complain but she just wanted to leave and go home. To be honest it ruined the weekend for me as I so wanted my wife to feel pampered and she ended up feeling unimportant.

This old building has a fascinating history (ask the reception desk for a copy of the tale of Beauport House complied by the manager)
The welcome was warm, as was the comfortable bar lounge where we settled for hot drinks and snacks, with the flames of a faux fire flickering in the background.
The rooms were beautifully refurbished and spotlessly clean, with huge beds and big fluffy towels and Elemis toiletries.
My companions enjoyed swimming and saunas in the Spa building, while I caught up on reading.
Dinner in the charming dining room was delicious and seasonal - rabbit pie was generous and rustic - mulled wine was available.
Breakfast was equally good, with any possible option being catered for - a vegetarian full English looked and tasted delicious, and two Eggs Royale set us up for the day in regal style.
Staff are without fail helpful and efficient.
We did not use the actual Spa facilities.

Stayed there for one night. It was not too bad and restaurant was quite decent as well. The only thing is the Gym was very far from the main building which is was making very difficult for me to go under the freezing weather. Overall, it was very a fairly pleasant stay

Superb - in every aspect.
My son booked me in here after a series of weather-related disasters prevented me returning home to Somerset.
He gave me a glimpse of heaven.

Every aspect of this experience was wonderful. The former manor house's wooden doors remain, decorated with beautiful Christmas lights sparkling in the snow.
Once through the doors, relaxation descended. A courteous, gently smiling receptionist dealt with every request - including late check out - with calm efficiency.
The cleaning staff were lovely, happily supplying extra milk for the well stocked courtesy box in the comfortable bedroom.
The room was initially too hot, but I could turn off all the radiators so could control the environment and it quickly became comfortable. I had an excellent night's sleep in a very comfortable bed.
The shower was blissful with clear controls and effective settings and a lovely range of shower toiletries in applicator bottles are provided. The shower was over the bath which I dislike as the years aren't being kind to my joints but I imagine that other rooms may have separate showers.

The food was impeccable. The restaurant was fully booked but I ate in the bar where my mushroom risotto - a favourite of mine - was probably the best I've ever had. I don't drink much but I needed a wine after a tough day and the Sauvignon Blanc was so smooth and mellow, I had a second glass which is very rare for me.
Breakfast was Eggs Royale and once again, I've rarely tasted better, with eggs cooked to perfection and a hollandaise sauce with a piquancy that sharpened up the whole dish.
Nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff.
This morning I walked out onto the snowy balcony and took some beautiful pictures of the grounds.

A good review should include any weak points: all I can think of is that the cap on the courtesy bottled water was so tight I couldn't unscrew it. If, like me, you have arthritis in your hands, check the bottles when you arrive and get someone to unscrew them for you. That's it.

Room tip: Even in frosty weather, the accessories routes were clear and the roads within the grounds gritted.

We would just like to express how impressed we were with the events team and hotel staff in helping us organise our fundraising event and looking after our guests on the night, making this a successful evening. We also had guests staying at the hotel who expressed how lovely the rooms were and how well they were looked after. Hoping to return again next year.
