Good morning Mike,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Reviews are very important to us as they allow us to work on improving our service.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit to us. We have a fantastic gardener who visits us regularly so regrettably you must have arrived before her! Regarding your food, did you let a member of staff know your feelings so we could remedy it?

We hope that we see you again to remedy your experience with us!

Good home cooked carvery. Excellent value for the family. Only gripe was the cost of the small appetite plate which was almost the same as the adult portion. Would go again

I first come across The Swans Nest years ago, by chance, essentially I noticed it while driving past it on my way to Dawlish Warren, which is about 6 ½ miles away.

The Swans Nest is your typical country pub, big, lots of dark woods and homely, it's been a few years since my last visit because I wasn't impressed the last time around; I thought the meal was overpriced and stingy (Lasagne ), once again we found ourselves in D.W and thought we'd have a Carvery, on the way past earlier that day we had seen the sign, a quick telephone call at 4.30pm for a 6pm booking was quick and very polite, upon arrival the barmaid/manager was very friendly and helpful, with a good bit of banter and joking going on, my one and only tiny niggle is that she did say she would get us when the carvery was ready, she didn't, the choice was excellent, that said pigs and blankets would've gone down a treat ;-), and everything except the stuffing's rock hard surface was cooked to perfection, I'd go as far to say it's the best pub/restaurant/hotel meal I've had this year, it was absolutely delicious, and I did notice that everyone else coming into the pub also went straight to the Carvery.

I have tried Dawlish based pubs like Smugglers and the Boathouse etc but on this form; where the food matches the pubs atmosphere and setting, it'll have to be another Nest visit the next time I'm in Devon.

Thanks for a great Meal and Hospitality.

Three of us on a family reunion booked a table on Sunday evening. We ordered and enjoyed carvery each. I have to say. There has been a remarkable improvement since my last visit. The staff were very attentive and most convivial. During our meals we were asked if the food was to our satisfaction (which it was).
The experience was so pleasant that we even indulged in a dessert each. Torte and ice cream!
The lady serving the desserts was very knowledgable about the range of food on offer and patiently helped us with our choices.

One major thing of note. Thanks for listening to the Muzak hating HEPA.

I was particularly pleased that the management appear to have taken note of my previous comments regarding the unnecessarily intrusive piped “Muzak”. It was actually hardly audible..THANK YOU. I am definitely coming back again.

Oh and the IPA is great.

Thank hepa

We live in Exminster and go to the Swans Nest on a regular basis. Carianne and the rest of the staff are always friendly and welcoming so we asked if we could have our wedding reception there, on 27 May. It exceeded all of our expectations!

In the lead up to the wedding Carianne was very accommodating, never refusing when we asked to come round for some questions, meet up with the photographer and DJ, or try out decorations. In fact, she offered us some of her own decorations and made other suggestions which we happily accepted, such as a bouncy castle and an outside cocktail bar! Because she was so relaxed about things it saved us a lot of hassle and stress, which was very much appreciated in the months before our wedding!

We were allowed to decorate the room a day before the reception, again saving us time and stress. On the night itself everything was just perfect. In the garden at the back there were fairy lights, places for guests to relax, the cocktail bar, a table tennis table, the bouncy castle: plenty for people to enjoy. We had a finger food buffet which everyone mentioned was great, including lots of vegan choices for some of our guests. The staff were smiling all night long, despite it being a bank holiday weekend and having been very busy in the day already. We didn't have to worry about a thing: everything was taken care of by Carianne and her staff.

The next day we came back to clear up but they had already taken everything down and put it back in the boxes we brought it in. Again, more time and hassle saved.

We cannot thank the Swans Nest enough for the perfect wedding reception they helped us create and enjoy. And to think they are not specialised in weddings: we would recommend them to anyone anytime.
