The reviews and pictures of brunch looked fabulous at this place and also the good reviews for dinner so we booked for Friday night and can’t recommend it enough.
The restaurant was relaxed and although simply decorated, welcoming and cosy - we liked the tables and milk crate chairs - they were more than comfortable enough and original.
The menu is limited to about 3 items each for starter or main but if you are adventurous with food then that is all good - I had parsnip for starter and who knew that could be such a star of the show. My husband had wood pigeon which he had never tried before. The chef popped out and asked if we would mind him adding walnuts as he thought it would go nicely which we thought was great that he was adapting as the evening went and the dish was delicious.
We both had partridge for main which was new for both of us and it was again delicious. Also the chef had confit the legs and made a little pate from the bird and served it along side which was a tasty extra and showed great skill and care utilising all the bits of the bird.
We had to head off to get our train home so we left with our caramel donuts packed up to go - they were a great sweet treat to enjoy on the journey home - 3 big fluffy donuts with a rich caramel sauce...you wouldn’t get that on British Rail!
Amazing food from the chef team and really friendly service from the blond waitress who managed the front of house brilliantly. It’s great that you can take you’re own drinks as it makes the bill very reasonable - our meal was £57 and worth every penny.
Well done Ceres - we’ll be back for brunch very soon!

Incredible and unique food, the hollandaise sauce is delicious.

And the coffee is the best around. Will definitely come back.

Pros:
- good atmosphere
- can cater for vegan and gluten free
- genuinely tasty food

Cons:
- ever so slightly overpriced for breakfast, but as I'm not from around here maybe it's just city prices

One of Bristol's best brunch spots, Ceres is also one of the city's best kept secrets when it comes to evening dining.

Though there are plans to change frequency, Ceres produces a variety of menus each week with the latest seasonal ingredients available. I've visited twice this year and each time left feeling at least one course was among the best food I've experienced in the city.

As negatives go the environment does leave something to be desired. Back pain sufferers may struggle with the seating but it's truly worth it for the quality of food available.

What a great place, orange carrot and ginger juice with just the right punch. Eggs, avocado and feta on toast and sweet corn fritters with egg, halloumi and tomato chutney. Indulgent toast and jam to follow.

Lovely.
