Owner description: These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens and National Historic Site of Canada started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

if you enjoy flowers, you will never want to leave, I diidnt. This place is amazing. Make sure you have plenty of time to cover everything because the Sunken Garden could swallow you up...Most gorgeous garden. The grounds people take great pride and it shows. On rainy days, they have comp!momentary umbrellas to use. You'll be taking lots of pictures. This will be something I'll remember forever. There are benches to sit and places to buy something to eat. Believe you can eat at the several restaurants as well. The gifts shop is just as wonderfut, bought all my souvenirs here. The prices are reasonable too.

A must see!

We had visited Butchart Gardens about 20 years ago in February and it was not that colorful. It was considerably better in April. The bulbs were out and the fruit trees were blooming. The colors were extraordinary and I am not really a garden person. My wife especially enjoyed our visit, It is easy to find your way around to the different gardens. The most impressive garden by far is the quarry, a garden created out of an old stone quarry. Overall this was a good experience.

Each and every area of the gardens was remarkable. The spring array of flowers is such a treat after a long cold winter. The restaurant offered a wonderful assortment of luncheon choices. The beet salad was excellent. And don’t forget to wonder thru the gift shop that has something for everyone. Will definitely return again.

I had average expectations of the garden.

The Sunken garden simply took our breath away. It was like a piece of heaven. The rest of the park was nice as well although not everything was in bloom.

Even on a drizzly day it's beautiful !
As every photographer knows full sun does not produce the best photos, but does make for a lovely stroll.
Nice paths , some stairs up to viewing areas yet wheel chair / stroller accessible to most areas.
Washrooms and restaurants , gift shop on the grounds .
Pet friendly!!!!
