We stayed three nights at this lovely hotel and had the most fabulous time. The lovely manageress Nawal was always ever so helpful as was the rest of the staff. The rooms were beautiful, the view from the breakfast terrace fantastic, the sunset at the pool, with lovely live music and great cocktails, out of this world. We arrived here after a bad hotel experience and felt very welcome. We can't wait to go back. Dudley, Elisabetta, Benjamin and Marco

Good hotel in the 'city' centre. From there you can easily reach the paths to the mountains or to the " stagnone" a little lake pool in the middle of Capraia. Rooms are comfortable considering that you are on a small island. Near it you can find, in my opinion, the best restaurant " La Garitta". max.

We stayed at il Saracino as a family for three nights and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The ensuite rooms are clean and functional with air conditioning. There is a lift too upper floors and internet in reception only.

The hotel has the advantage of an outdoor pool set in pretty gardens.

The hotel is up in the town so there is a ten minute stroll down to the port... slightly longer coming up! However there is a little bus that goes between town and port every five minutes.

The breakfast here is very good and was included in the price of the room. We chose to eat lunch here one day and it was superb! I can highly recommend the seafood spaghetti and when i told the proprietor that I am allergic to mussels it was not trouble to produce a mussel free dish as its all cooked from fresh. breakfast and lunch were eaten on the terrace although here is an inside option.

Definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located up on the hill - we were lucky to get a room with a view (301), but the bathroom was a bit dated. We were with a group of people (30 of us) and the hotel and their personnel couldn't have been nicer, more helpful and just plain professional. We ate in the hotel 3 nights - food excellent and everything is perfect. There is so much to see that we will definitely be back. Remember that the hotel also supplies bus tickets and you save 20 cents if you buy them there.

Room Tip: Room 401 is fantastic

On the back of the bedroom door it says the hotel is certified 4 star - but I don't think so, in fact someone (as a joke I'm sure) painted out the star on the front of the hotel - my gripe is that they should have painted out at least 2 or more of them!
Let's start with the bus - I understand that transport is hard to get on the island but at least use a hoover to remove the piles of dust inside and give it a bit of a clean once in a while! Bus driver non chalant and moody.
Reception staff very polite and welcoming.
The bedroom was small and really stuffy and needed a good airing : sheets were clean but the bed was old and small. Shower TINY with a shower curtain like a campsite - my friends had shower doors that were hanging from their hinges. They didn't even have a soap tray in the shower either so they had to hold onto the soap while showering (because if it fell on the floor you had to get out to make room to pick it up!!!!) TV did not work and fridge was off and empty with a small spider and fly inside...mmmmmm.
Which brings me to the restaurant - we were invited inside the greenhouse (with windows that don't open and plants growing from the outside in and a large sock covering the drafts...). Again staff very polite but they looked "fearful" of the customers.
Menu was a piece of A4 from 1977 with the dishes written on them and the PRICES were ridiculous - taking advantage of the average tourist.....antipastis : 15 euros for one dish, primi: 15 euros, secondi: 20 euros
"OK" we thought - "well we are on an island - you can't go wrong with fish"
We ordered lasagnette al profumo di mare followed by fish in the oven.
It was ALL ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL and inedible and I am not exaggerating.
We eventually decided to embarassingly send the lasagnette back (obviously done in the microwave and then grilled to a volcano temperture, with such an insepid taste that 4 out of 6 of us politely spat in our napkins) The waitress was very good when we asked for something a bit fresher she offered us spaghetti allo scoglio (off the menu) - when it arrived it was GARLIC with a bit of spaghetti and mussels. NOT THE CLASSIC ITALIAN CAN'T GO WRONG DISH - YUK! We got a bit tired and the hunger had turned to annoyance so we sent that back too. Then the fish arrived and it was obvious that that too had been cooked and then heated up under the grill because it was disgusting. At that point we realised that we would be very hungry indeed if we didn't have a sweet so we had some icecream with some mini biscuits which we polished off in no time.

When it came to pay for the total the next morning they tried to make us pay for the pasta that we sent back and were actually offended when we offered constructive criticism for the next poor tourist. We eventually paid 60 euros a head for the meal without the pasta (we had 3 bottles of wine because we thought it would be best to "drink to forget") THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE ARE WRITING THIS REVIEW - DON'T GO TO SARACINO - SLEEP ON A BENCH ON THE HARBOUR AND EAT THE LOVELY ICECREAM IN THE HARBOURSIDE GELATERIA - YOU'D BE MUCH BETTER OFF!
