This used to be such a great great eatery--and i stupidly took visitors from Kent there on August 17th 2021. What on earth are they doing running this place into the ground? Service was appalling, slow and chaotic. A short menu, yet they had run out of items on it, and it was not that busy-now we know why. One poorly trained female server, plus a guy whom one of my guests said " smelt" when he leaned over her-might be a " turn on " for some folk-but basic hygiene please! In addition the female manager (?)had difficulty working out what £120-£113 was--and she and the server spent some time coming to a decision !! What can i say--PLEASE employ a professional chef--with at least two experienced commis chefs,AND at least four servers are needed in a room that size, plus a manager who is au fait with restaurants--this was more like some tacky pub PLUS clean that kitchen up--from the counter it looked disgusting ! It might also be a good idea not to run out of basics like ice cream !!! Would love to see someone who knows the trade back in charge !! We will not return there are too many good establishments nearby.Dont waste your money !

The pictures on Tripadvisor do not do the Dormy House Hotel justice, as it is in the throws of an upgrade and looks totally different. Although the wonderful rabbit is still outside.
We have stayed 4 nights in the last two weeks and would book again at the drop of a hat, we really enjoyed our stay both times.
Steve the owner is a really nice man who is about asking if there is anything he can help you with or need. His staff are friendly and approachable, great choice.
The view from the terrace at the back over to the sea is amazing and at night star watching recommended.
The breakfast is wonderful and I had the Village Breakfast which is the vegetarian option, but it is a varied menu.

Room tip: Rooms at the back overlook the sea.

My Mum's 91st birthday celebrations were so disappointing! Whilst I fully appreciate lack of staff can affect things hugely there are things that can be done to improve customer service. We were a large table of 14 and were just left. We had to ask to order in the end. It was explained that there was only one chef, so why not ring us in advance and we could have placed our order to help?! There was hardly anyone else eating but this establishment just hasn't got it together. We appreciated the owners apology and extra drinks but he said food would be another 15 minutes, when actually it was another hour. I explained that my 91 year old mother can't wait this long and asked if they could provide a piece of bread and butter because she was beginning to feel unwell, but not even this could be provided! Shameful!! Eventually got our food at 2.45pm for a 1pm booking. To say the potatoes were yesterdays left overs reheated sums it up. We used to love this place but will never return. It ruined my Mums special day.

Lack of staff, limited menu half of which was not available. Will not eat there again cannot believe there was no ice cream available despite being on menu. Roast potatoes were not freshly cooked. Possibly a microwaved meal.

So disappointed. Grans 91st birthday ended in disaster. After an hour wait on food none was hot. Burger was tough, potatoes inedible. Salad was also inedible as it was grainy (like eating on the beach) the free drinks the owner offered us didn’t make it better.
We had 5 young children and babies that waited until 1445 for lunch. We where told as we where a big table we waited till last. Completely unexceptional. Along with all the excuses we where given. If you couldn’t manage our table you should have phoned us to cancel. Gran was really upset as she had recommended we all go there. Not what you want for a 91st birthday.
I understand hospitality is struggling for staff at the moment but if you can’t handle it shut your doors! We would of happily gone somewhere else, and now wish we did

Room tip: Avoid the restaurant unless you want long waits on mediocre food. They do however offer all the excuses under the sun.
