Description: The Queens Head is situated some six miles from the nearest town in the very picturesque village of Burley, on the edge of the New Forest. We are a country pub with country ways attracting clientele who enjoy seeing the wildlife and variety of animals in the surrounding fields. These include deer, ponies, cows and donkeys. The pub dates back to 1645 and is rumoured to be an old smugglers haunt. This was reinforced when, during a refurbishment, treasures like old pistols, coins and bottles were uncovered here. There is also an alleged underground tunnel running between Burley Manor public house and this one. The front of the building has never been changed and inside has retained original features from at least 100 years ago. With alcoves, nooks and crannies, you can hide away and enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside in the garden during the summer months. This is a lovely old pub frequented by really friendly local characters and passers by alike.

Thank you to Sash and her team. It was a very busy evening due to half term but they managed it very professionally especially given the number of people who turned up without a reservation. The new menu is very good. My sea bass was delicious as was my partner's steak. Good local Ringwood Razorback and house wine. Definitely will be back soon.

Seriously great chips! Tried vegetarian fish and chips. The battered halloumi is AMAZING. Crazy busy car park but there is another car park a little further on.

Many thanks for your kind review. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your meal with us and look forward to seeing you again.
Unfortunately the car parks around us do get very busy very earlier but the field which is set behind the carpark is now open all summer as an over flow for £3 a day- just for future reference.

Many thanks and see you again

Kind regards

We haven’t been to the Queen’s Head for some time. About 9/10 years ago the menu and standard of food was excellent only to be replaced over the following years by cheap industrial catering pack food and we stopped going there.
This year we saw that the QH had been taken over by the Chef and Brewer pub chain and we thought we would give it a try.
It is a family orientated pub and welcomes dogs in one of the bars (where there are stone floors, not carpets). Still industrial catering pack but of a much higher standard. My husband had an excellent lasagne while I had sausage and mash. It was ok but would have been much nicer with freshly cooked sausages rather than reheated ones.
Overall we had a very pleasant lunch. The biggest plus was the choice of ales.

Busy little pub offering lunch and evening meals.
Dog friendly.
We had lunch which was ok. Sat in the bar area with the dogs. Was a lovely sunny day so most people sat outside. Water bowl for the dogs.
Lunch menu was ok. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We walked into this pub and nearly walked out again. Old place, a bit on the tired side but really good value. Eat after 4 pm and you get 3 courses for £13.99. Wasn't expecting much and thought the portions may be small but wrong on both accounts. Just plain good old fashioned pub food. We started of with the soup, it was homemade and very tasty, large bowl and bloomer bread. Then had fish and chips. Again large portion. Skins taken off fish, beautifully white and cooked in lovely batter. Choice of beans or peas, chips cooked without the skins too, hate chips with peel on. Afters I had chocolate fudge cake served with cream. Would recommend this pub and would go again, right in the middle of a quaint village. Car park at back and plenty of seating outside for meals served on a hot summers day.
