Valletta waterfront is a busy port catering for cruise ships and there is also a marina there. Totally commercial, taximen punting to the cruise ship people, restaurants galore even one offering two pints of beer for the price of one at 12 noon in 27 degrees heat, jarveys touting, and people, people, people.

Lacks a bit of coziness. Probably, the cafes and souvenir shops make that impression. Too far from the center to pay a dedicated visit.

On the cruise ship MSC meraviglia. My favourite stop so far. Clean, tidy and very friendly people. And unlike Palermo you don't get ripped off on the horse tours...

Despite the large menu, they are not pretentious. The food is served graciously, fresh, generous and delicious ingredients. What you get is more than what is written and it's rare. I was pleasantly surprised. The service is warm and generous. I'll be back!

For the number of restuarants in this place, it would not be unreasonable to think that apart from the high end ones, there would be others more reasonably priced...maybe the high rent charged or the get rich quick mentality is at fault?
