Booked this place last minute after a friend recommended visiting Railay and we absolutely loved it! Around 5 minutes walk from the pier, welcome drinks on arrival and really quick check in!

Lovely room (had huge bed, safe, fridge, aircon, kettle etc.) with a balcony bit which went straight to the pool.

There’s an atm and a convenience store near by and a place to buy your transfer tickets. The staff will point you in the right direction if you ask :)

Would definitely suggest eating at their restaraunt too!! The green curry was so tasty! Also you can rent a kayak from the beach on the opposite side (about 10 mins walk from the hotel) the views are stunning and can visit a few more beaches.

Great stay!!!

You definitely want to stay on this side of Railay. It's quieter but still easily walkable to the restaurants and bars on the other side. The best part of staying on this side is the proximity to Ao Phra Nang beach...That place is why you wanted to come here to Railay. Check my review on that.

Back to Avatar. Room was lovely. Clean and modern with a great patio. We were right above one of the pool suites and had a large wooden, covered, daybed on the balcony with cushions for it indoors. The AC was perfectly cold and we had a large bathtub in the centre of the room which we both enjoyed. Great views from our balcony or the distinctive rock formations and we even got in some monkey sightings! My twitchy back was fine with the bed.

Now for the not great. Pool was packed during the day and not much real estate from a lounger standpoint. We enjoyed an evening swim one night but be careful where you look...most of the guest rooms have patios that open onto the pool and my lady caught a glimpse of something that made her want to bleach her eyeballs.

Service was alright...nothing to make me want to shout it from the rooftops and the drinks were expensive. That said, they were POTENT...and at Happy Hour they were definitely worth it. Food was likely our least favourite during our time in Thailand.

One thing we absolutely did NOT like was the conditions of the cats on the property. We LOVE animals and they had a couple of families of cats with adorable kittens on the grounds. Most were blinded in one or both eyes and several were missing tails...it was heartbreaking. Blind kittens tend to put a damper on your holiday happiness. I suspect it may be monkeys who do that to them but I don't know for sure...Avatar. I suggest that if you allow animals on the property that you get them cared for and treat them as pets. Maybe build them a shelter where they can be safe and secure with their little ones.

Anyways, value was good and the location worked for us.

Room Tip: We are glad we didn't get a room with a pool-facing balcony.

Railay was the last stop on our backpacking trip, so my husband and I splurged and booked 4 nights in one of Avatar’s villas with private pool and we were not disappointed. For pretty much the same price as any average hotel room in the U.S., we were absolutely in love with our room at Avatar. It was spacious and bright; the bed was comfortable; the shower room was big and had great water pressure; we loved lounging in the provided robes and slippers and drinking espresso from the coffee machine; and of course, it was a dream to have an infinity pool right out the sliding glass door. The pool water was a bit chilly since it’s in the shade, but it was so hot during the day, that it was welcome. I do wish that we could have accessed the poolside recliners without having to first go in the pool.

I loved the location - on the quieter (East) side of Railay, but a short walk to West Railay and all the shops as well as Phra Nang Beach.

Breakfast was decent, but nothing too special compared to the rest of the stay. I also wish the hotel would offer to organize transfers.

Having been traveling a backpacker lifestyle for a few months this place proved to be a true gem in the spectacular Railay peninsula. Our deluxe room overlooking the pool was great with impressive shower and room facilities at a really reasonable price. The poolside rooms and those with private pools on their balconies look incredible. Will definitely stay again and recommend without hesitation.

We visited Railay Beach by long tail boat and arrived on the beach side of the island.

We did struggle to find the hotel as it was on the other side, past some shops, through some trees and we were at Avatar Railay.

First impressions were great, you could tell it was a new hotel and we couldn’t wait to get inside. Upon check in we were pleased to be told we had been upgraded to one of the villas with an amazing balcony, outdoor sofa beds, large room with king size bed and amazing bathroom. It really did make our stay extra special.

The pool was small and in the shade towards the end of the day but this was welcomed after a long hot day in the sun. There was only a few sun beds but they did have beanbags on the grass also.

Can’t fault our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to couples. Our only advise would be watch out for the monkeys!
