As the name Taberna Marinera indicates, this restaurant primarily focuses on seafood. The restaurant is situated in some old caves, and has also some outdoor tables. Quaint and romantic.

The food - when it arrived - was good. Not fantastic, but good. We had cheese, bellpepper and tuna salad, lamb skewers and lamb chops. Not seafood, but quite good. The food was very well presented, especially the salad.

The service was not good. All were friendly, running all the time to prepare and serve the food quickly. Still, it was chaos: Noone was coordinating anything. Result: wrong orders being delivered and same order being prepared several times.

If someone had been there, running and coordinating the staff, this would have been a great visit.

This is an extraordinarily atmospheric restaurant, set in a cave built into the hillside. Great, grilled meat based, Castilian fare. Wine came in unlabelled bottles but tasted good. Highly recommended.

Price-wise these places are all a little expensive but well worth it for the cavern-like experience. If you are not claustrophobic, ask for a setting in one of the several underground caves deeper inside the main hall. Its like being in a set from the Hobbit and my son was expecting to see dwarves or orcs dash out from somewhere. Highly recommended, take care when going to the amenities as it is easy to bump your head!

One of a number of restaurants based in caves on the hillside. The interior is a fabulous place of hanging hams etc. Very well decorated. We found what was on offer on the menu was a little disjointed - but maybe that is just not being tuned in to what they are about. Everything was freshly made to order, nothing pre=prepared. Very nice but a bit over-priced for what we had. I would guess all of the adjoining places were the same as no menus were posted at any of them. This didn't stop them being very busy though so I guess the novelty attraction works for them. I have had better value, but I'm glad I paid them a visit.

If you're in Madrid and have time you really should visit this place. If you do, you're in for a real treat. The location in the side of the mountain is magnificent and they have kept it traditional inside with many original features. The service was wonderful, friendly and polite, and the food was delicious. And then there are the caves.. what a surprise..! All in all an enchanting Spanish experience.
