If you are in reasonable shape this is worth the steep uphill treck. Once you have reached the top there are great panaromic views of Jasper and surrounding mountains

We went in March during the week. It was a quiet trip, and a great way to kill an hour. We really liked the red chairs on the top. It was nice to think about all the potential wildlife we could have seen but didn't.

A very pleasant low difficulty trail but the highlight was watching a mama grizzly an her cub (from a safe distance) feeding on an elk carcass on the opposite side of the river. I don't know what the water temp was but it was very cold (didn't seem to be a factor for the bears who were in the water for more than the 30 minutes or so that my wife and I watched). A very unexpected sighting but now a treasured memory.

beautiful spot, finally paved road to the lake. however, for the adventurous people, please respect the signs during Elk calving. the females ARE dangerous and will charge. Just be aware you are not in a city park, but in a wild setting with very wild untamed animals all around. Enjoy this amazing setting, take photos, not casualties. Great setting, spots for wedding pics.

This area is just outside Jasper so it is easily gotten it. There are rest rooms at the trailhead and adequate parking. We did the loop by climbing the stairs which quickly put you up to enjoy the river winding it’s way thru the valley. We continued the hike around to more spectacular views of the area....beware there were several very challenging areas....good shoes are an absolute necessity. Enjoyed the red chairs along the trail and the walk thru the wooded area where we saw some wildlife. Took around 3 hours to do.
