Came here to celebrate our two-year anniversary. We were a bit disorganized (arrived late, didn't have dinner reservations, etc) and the staff took such great care of us. Every single staff member we encountered was so friendly and helpful, and helped make our anniversary trip an amazing one!

As a traveller with celiac disease, I was also really impressed with the gluten-free options available. The menus must have changed as they had many more options available than what is indicated on the Sunshine Mountain Lodge website. They do not have a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, but staff were very careful with the allergy and I didn't get cross-contaminated. The Eagle's Nest in particular had about half their menu marked gluten-free without any modifications needing to be made. We got the tuna tataki, beef short rib with au jus, and eggnog cheesecake. Quite a luxury to be able to order gluten free desert!

The property might be a bit out of our price range during regular season, but it is an awesome place to stay if you want to cozy up on the mountain for a few days (as other reviewers have noted, it's not very easy to access Banff town, but that wasn't an issue for us). We look forward to returning!

Room tip: Deluxe balcony room was very nice, clean, spacious, with a beautiful view of the ski hill

We went there last winter after seeing in the forecast that it would snow a lot on a weekend so we decided to go stay there for a few days. Unfortunately, the amount of people there combined with all of us waking up late really made us miss the fresh snow we hoped for. We got back in the room to relax and vent off the fact that we missed what we were there for in the first place and luckily met our housekeeper in our room. He basically kicked us out of the room tipping us up about one of his secret spot that would still probably have fresh snow. It wasn't exactly easy to find and did involve some walking. it took us a couple times to get it right. But we did! That was the best snow we skied there all weekend.

The next day it was snowing a lot with strong winds so we couldn't see much of what what going on in front of us. We jokingly said that we should go back to the room and hope our housekeeper was there so we could get some advice. Well he wasn't in our room but we met him in our hallway ready to save the day again . After getting our load of advises from him, we went back out there to see that he was right again. We had an awesome day on a beautiful mountain.

We forgot his name, but if you have a long hair housekeeper assigned to your room, make sure to ask him for some advises as he turned 2 days that could have been deceptive into 2 days of awesome skiing.

We will come back this winter with friends and family and hopefully this time we will be a little more lucky with the weather.

We stayed at the lodge on Jul 25th. We arrived early (before 7:00am) for breakfast next morning. We had one guest (Megan Crosland) with us who was needing to take the first gondola down at 8:00am. Altho our waiter was very pleasant, our breakfasts did not arrive till well after 8:00am. We managed to get something together for Megan so she could catch the 8:00am gondola but had to pack her breakfast up & eat on the gondola. The rest of us were hiking into Assiniboine that day & wanted to get an early start. That did not happen! We did let our waiter know we had a time constraint. Others (who arrived later than us) in the restaurant seemed to get their meals in a timely manner. We were a party of 6 - it should still not have taken this long. It resulted in us arriving Assiniboine much later than we anticipated.

This hotel is up the Sunshine Village gondola, and it closes at 5h30 pm every day except for Friday, when it closes at 10h pm. If you’re staying at the hotel there are less chances of visiting Banff or the other attractions of Banff park.
There are 3 restaurant options at night. A pub with pub food and 2 restaurants in the hotel that share the same chef, so you can expect the same flavors. Both are excellent, specially for the breakfast!

Had a wonderful stay at Sunshine Mountain Lodge. Our room was clean and cozy and we really appreciated the tips about keeping the room cool and the humidifier running. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating, giving us tips on where to hike and good places to eat. Eddie, in particular, provided exceptional service and we enjoyed his pleasant demeanor. Would definitely recommend staying here to friends and would love to come back during the winter to ski!
