I love this restaurant. We are only in Amble for four nights and have been twice. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the staff is excellent - the chef came out and chatted for a bit with us and his personality comes through in the food.

We had: silver hake with corn risotto, halibut with mussels, Stilton rarebit, sirloin, and the burger. And the best creme brûlée ever for dessert (the orange ginger version was my absolute favorite). The house white wine is also very good.

The plates are beautiful and taste as good as they look - you should definitely go!

We wanted an early light lunch before a boat trip and had wandered further into town away from the 'tourist cafes'. It was only 11.30 and they were still doing their Brunch menu. We both chose the Smoked Haddock and Crab Kedgeree fishcakes, with poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. They were huge, much bigger than I was expecting, but they were so delicious. There was no way I was leaving any. As I said to the waitress, they were worthy of a Masterchef entry to please any celebrity chef! Looking at the specials board I would have loved to have had an evening meal there as there were so many things I would have liked to have tried. Sadly we weren't staying nearby and were booked to eat with the big group we were with. Not cheap, but worth every penny if you enjoy amazing food.

Really impressed with brunch. Very tasty and not too expensive. Dinner was awesome! The food was mouthwatering and unforgettable. We wish we'd come across this restaurant earlier on. This restaurants food is far better than many Michelin restaurants we've visited. Really friend staff too. Thank you!!!

When we travel we always try to find a local restaurant to get the pulse of the area we are exploring. Last night first experience at Sea&Soil in amble did not disappoint us.
The friendly welcome from the staff and the timing of there service was excellent. We started with a cocktail and dived into the Charcoal Squid, soft shell crab and king prawns with a side of the famed Lobster Mac & Cheese.
The squid was on point and the textures and colour in keeping with the local coastline.
For our mains we tried the local rump lamb and Pollock with porter and squid ink batter with the pollock melting as you cut through the dark outer crust and the lamb with the finely grated beetroot and roasted vegetables cooked perfectly.
To finish we closed out with the Passion fruit parfait and pineapple salsa which cleaned our palette and left us both very full.
Its great to see a local restaurant supporting local farmers and a local coffee producer as well as the staff checking if your ready for your next course and not feeling rushed. The portions are generous and the service and attention to detail are consistent.
Will be back if our itinerary permits !

The choice of food was excellent and the staff were very attentive but not at all pushy. We had an enjoyable meal with lots of choice, helping sizes were OK and the and the price was right
