The only thing this resort has is a pool. There are no beach, no gym, no beach and the office staff are very rude and unhelpful. The water in your unit has to be treated before consumption, and the Zika virus is widespread all over the island.

Stayed: April 2017

Absolutely dreadful. The employee who checked us in was rude and totally disinterested. The office was a trash heap. Our room — an “upgrade” — was dirty with broken, mismatched furniture. The rugs were so gross you had to wear shoes at all time. There was a sign on the sliding glass door that said it should be locked, but the lock doesn’t work. There was no TV signal nor WIFI.
In short, this place sucks and for $400/day they should be ashamed of themselves

We just walked out of our condo onto the beach. If you do not rent a car, there is a taxi service available in the parking lot. The resort has individuals that set up your beach chairs for you, there is beach beverage/sandwich service. Guests and employees were so friendly! Located near Red Hook. Absolutely gorgeous!

Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina is a bit of a misleading name for this property. It is a condominium and dockominium property. There are 6 buildings, labeled A-F. A, B, C, D and E are on the beach, and the F building is on the marina. The most desirable buildings are D and E because they face more directly due east into the trade winds, so you get a nice breeze. Each building has 3 levels of units. The first and second floor are one-level studios. The third and fourth floor are two-level "villas". There are about 10 units per floor. The most desirable units are the corner units because they have wrap around decks. So for example, E-301 (which I used to own) is a very desirable location because it is a 2 story corner unit in the most east facing beach-front building. The first floor units have a porch that opens right onto the beach. The second floor has a deck, while third floor has two decks.
Since they are individually owned condos, a unit might be substantially upgraded with granite counters and unique bathrooms, or it may be basic. Appliances and furniture vary widely. Be sure you know exactly what you are booking. Check out the pictures and reviews from other people that rented that particular unit. The pricing also varies considerably. The F building is not on the beach, it faces the marina but is a 1 minute walk to the beach, you can usually get very good deals in the F building because it is not on the beach, and many of the units have not been upgraded. There is no room service, no restaurants or bars open at night. Most people head into the town of Red Hook, about 1/2 mile down the road. Although it is a short walk, it is NOT advisable to try to walk to Red Hook at night. There are no sidewalks, no lights, narrow winding road. Use your rental car or take a taxi. The beach is great, with a big reef, great for snorkeling (please don't touch or stand on the coral). There is no hotel staff because it is a condo complex. You will deal with the individual owner or a property management company. Definitely do your homework before booking. Note, there another property with the name "Sapphire" - Sapphire Village (up the hill above Sapphire Beach). Don't get them confused.

Room Tip: D or E building villas. These units will be labeled D3xx or E3xx

The Sapphire Beach resort is up and proudly running. Nice and clean after two hurricanes in September 2017.
We stayed i building D on the first floor, steps from the beach. We had nice furnished patio.
The pool is cleaned daily. Some trees did not survived the tough weather so there is less shaded area on the beach.
We were very impressed with the people working so hard to put this place back to its pretty look after the disaster.

Room Tip: Great view, nice and quiet area
