2 days without hot wather. For hotel this is not a problem… but we can not take a shower.
2 nights with very loud and long alarm (middle of the night).
no one stopped it for several minutes.
I do not know if it is our bad luck or this is how it is every day, but no one from the service cares about the lack of water and the alarm is called exercises.

Staff was were very rude when trying to get help. Hot water was off and they could not say when it would be turned back on. Resort grounds smells like sewage in multiple places. Entertainment is very poor as well!! Do not stay here!!!!!!

My husband and I just returned from the Grand Bahia Principe after eight days of perfect weather. Our intention was to just chill on the beach, read, have drinks and dine after two years of covid. Realizing this resort is like all the others who stuggled to stay afloat durung the pandemic. Staff were top totch from the house keepers, gardeners and food staff. A special shout out to Shaun in the beach buffet who was the best of the best. The hotel is a little tired but workers are busy everyday, painting and repairing and gardening to scramble back to normalcy. Many reports on here are negative and there is no need for this as the resort is lucky to still be open. The staff were al great, including front staff, bar staff, restaurant staff and beach staff. The ala cartes were all phenominal and our favoriteswere The Knife, a steakhouse that had the best rib eye steak I have ever eaten and Ridizio, a Brazilian Steakhouse where the kept on coming and coming and served on skewers. The liquor on the beach did not have much kick to it, but that was a good thing, considering the days were long and hot. Our room had a broken fridge and safe, but we called it in, and they were right up to repair it right away. We kept our beach towel all week and dried it each night. If everyone did that, the resort would not run out of towels. Use common sense. In our room, the shower was hot, the bed was comfy and the air conditioner worked well. Thanks Bahia Principe for getting us out of our Covid funk We will be back.

Room tip: Don't stay above the lobby bar, stage area, as the entertainment may keep you awake.

Just returned from an 8 day stay with the family. Was skeptical after booking and seeing a few negative reviews. We had a great time, the food was good and the property was well maintained. Staff was friendly. Absolutely no complaints. Will definitely go back again. BTW, if you want a great private excursion. See Richard Ellis at the taxi stand in the lobby. He has tons of knowledge about the island and a great guy.

We went back finally after 8 years to our favorite resort on our favorite island.
We stayed from May 2 to May 9, 2022.
Zero complaints on our 1st time there in Oct 2014.
This time, we need everyone to know what you are getting before you book.
Pros - location, resort is beautiful, beach nice, snorkeling good right from beach, our houskeeper, the weather.
Cons - Food is average now. Low grade seafood served. Not 4 star.
Do not tip, staff do not provide any "extra service" when you tip (EXCEPT HOUSEKEEPING ALWAYS TIP YOUR HOUSEKEEPER) Other Staff seem grateful, try to give good service, but never gets you anything over the top
Other negatives
- resort ran out of clean beach towels for echange 3 times during our stay.
- resort ran out of dark rum for 2.5 days. Dark rum is important to us while we are there.
- guests were seen filling large zip lock bags full of food, putting in thwir purses and leaving with it from the buffet (every meal)
- clientele are no longer 4 star who stay there. Hotel allows anything without care or concern about other guests.
- it was "teachers week", so lots of locals staying for the day and clogging up services and access to paying guests.

Unless we are able to book on the Luxury side of hotel (adults only, better quality is assumption) we wont likely stay here again.
