Owner description: Located in Death Valley, this small salt pond is more than 280 feet below sea level, making it the lowest point in North America.
Reviewed 31 May 2018 via mobile

So, who knew? The Death Valley National Park is the size of Connecticut. If you plan to drive through the National Park, it is advisable to fill up the gas tank, wear a hat, bring bottled water, sunscreen, food, camera, etc. There are very few bathrooms along this drive. And, the ones encountered along Badwater are super stinky. Many people complained about the offensive odor.
It is a wonderful National Park. Staying overnight in Lone Pine is a great experience as well.

We visited here many years ago and were really impressed by the work that the National Park has di=one to improve the visitor experience. Well worth the visit.

Wonderful introduction to the perils of Death Valley by walking the salt lake at Badwater in searing heat. The drive to there from Shoshone is sensational. The toilet facilities are also an experience.

At 282 feet below sea level the shimmering salt plains are a sight to behold. Walk out on the boardwalk and further if you want. Amazingly hot, even at mid morning. Less than 20 miles from furnace creek. Well worth the (straight) drive.

This place has changed over the years and much better parking and a much better experience for the traveller. Some hiked away that I'd never seen before on other visits.
