Owner description: Located in Death Valley, this small salt pond is more than 280 feet below sea level, making it the lowest point in North America.

The parking lot is very close to the salt flat area. You don't need to walk far to see them. The best pictures come if you walk past the crowd to where it's less touched. You don't need to walk far to for this, maybe 1/2 or 3/4 a mile.

I do caution people that it's extremely hot even at 5pm. It was 105 when I went in May at the end of the day. Bring more water than you think you need.

On your way back to the parking lot, look up at the mountain for the small sign that says "sea level"

This is the lowest point in America. There is a nice wooden walkway out to the salt basin and bad water. It only takes a minute to walk out. There are parts where you can walk and parts that you must stay off to avoid crushing the basin. It was 107F the day we were there so I didn't linger.

Great you can walk onto the salt deposits - a short walk is sufficient as it is much the same along it (you'll be thankful as it is so hot!)

Truly the bottom of the the country, this is the lowest point in entire USA. Some short walks are possible. Place worthy of visit just for the reason of having geographical significance.

One of the lowest points on Earth. Bring hat and plenty of drinking water because it is sweating hot. It is not necessary to walk too much. You can view the area from the starting point itself. Still you can go further for a walk if you like.
