Having just returned from a family trip touring Italy, we feel we have to give this amazing restaurant the five star review it richly deserves.
Located in the charming village of Oratino, the local town being Campobasso. My mother was born and raised in the Busso, the village next door and I still have a large family in the Molise region. My cousin strongly recommended Olmicello and he was 100% right in doing so.
The outside of the restaurant is to be honest quite plain, but inside it is lovely, exposed stone walls, original tiled ceilings, my cousin told me that the rooms were originally used for storage. There is also a beautiful view if you decide to eat on the veranda.
I had the home made pasta with tartufo (truffle) and my wife the home made ravioli stuffed with hazelnut cream for starter. The griddled lamb for main and Tiramisu for dessert. The food is amazing. The staff are also excellent, attentive, well informed but not obtrusive. The house red wine is also very nice, a delicious Monepolluciano.
Obviously this restaurant isn't easy to get to. Campobasso, Oratino and Busso aren't famous tourist attractions but if you're ever in the area you have to try this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
