Doesn’t even deserve one star. The staff is rude and unhelpful and does not care to help with any requests or concerns you have. Hotel advertises free wifi in rooms and wifi completely did not work on the second floor. Apparently because “too many people are on the wifi”, funny we haven’t had that issue in any other hotel we have stayed at. We requested a double room and keep in mind we booked this hotel in advance this was not a last minute booking, and we were given two twin beds. The bed we could get past but it’s the attitude we were given when we brought this to their attention, that we were not given the room we had paid for. The staff simply did not care about any of our concerns and offered zero solutions. When you’re in the hospitality business you should probably care about the customer and try and address their concerns. Would never stay here again and I would advise you not to either.

Stayed: June 2018, travelled as a couple

We stayed here with two kids before getting the ferry out from Rafina having flown into Athens.

It’s a bit tired but was a perfectly nice place to stay for a night before getting a ferry. Clean, friendly and has a decent bar/restaurant for essentials (big bottles of ice cold water!). It seemed from a sign in the hotel it’s due for refurbishment in 2019.

The free airport transfer was a brilliant service and has to be worth €40 itself. Really easy to find the buss outside Athens airport and a really helpful driver.

Hotel Avra isn’t nearly as terrible as most of these reviews may deem it. It’s a perfect spot for one night and very useful as a jump off point for catching the ferries early the next morning, as they are a five minute walk away and super convenient. Perfect for only two of us!
Yes it’s a bit dated and rooms are small, but we’re in Greece! Who’s hanging out in the dang room? The hotel is scheduled for renovation later in 2018 into 2019.
Breakfast buffet was nice and there’s a nice seating area to watch the sunrise as you dine.

It's a 2 star joint badly in need of a refurbishment. The bathroom stank. As in really, really badly of urine. Seasoned traveler here but had to complain. The lady on the desk was rude, could have been much nicer. They sent a cleaner to clean the bathroom & it was bearable after that. Anyway, its bearable if you have to & I assume its mainly a one night stay for people catching ferries.

4* is certainly is not, poor 1 or 2* in VERY BAD need of refurb - carpets are disgusting, poor quality laminate flooring in bedrooms is disintegrating. breakfast inedible. We booked a double but were given 2 tiny single beds; we were not told of this at check-in. when we when to the reception to get this "mistake" resolved, we were told that 90% of beds are singles, thus no doubles were available. The manager/concierge was Sooo rude - we simply did not care less about our concerns The beds had disgusting anti bed-wet plastic lined covers - resulting in uncomfortable, sweaty night. the WORST place we have EVER stayed in, and we travel a lot. The breakfast was very poor. Very bad value - KEEP AWAY!
