We met with friends for a weekday wine tasting and lunch at Oakridge. The wine tasting provided access to a reasonable range of Oakridge wines. The staff member was very knowledgeable about Oakridge wines in particular and wine generally. Although not indicated as available for tasting, we were able to taste several of the 864 Single Block wines and subsequently bought several bottles of these at the cellar door.

We then moved to the restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is similar to the tasting room in having wonderful views across the vines to the Yarra Ranges. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu is not extensive but provides some interesting choices. The smoked trout, smoked eel and 864 pumpkin entrees were all very good. I particularly enjoyed my choice of eel. For mains, we also enjoyed the dry aged duck and the slow cooked beef - the latter was very tender and rich in flavour. For dessert we shared some Gin, orange, mandarin, lemon myrtle, macadamia - a bit too tart for my liking but other members of our party enjoyed it more. The coffee was good. We also enjoyed an excellent Oakridge Cab Sav 2008.

What a wonderful way to start the day! We came for a wine tasting and our host was lovely. This is not a tasting room where you have to pay but in the end you are drawn to buy a bottle because of the beauty of the wine. Our host explained to us not only the history and talent of Oakridge but also the beautiful symbiotic relationship of the entire Yarra Valley. The vineyards appear to support each other in their endeavour for fruitful businesses through their friendships and mutual respect.
Thank you to Oakridge for our beautiful introduction to The Yarra.

Went to Oakridge for a tasting and possibly a coffee and snack with friends.
The wine was very nice, not cheap, did buy a few bottles and some really nice wine glasses.
Venue is large but was to busy to get a coffee so do need to book.

We went here planning on doing a tasting and lunch, as it had been recommended to us by a local. Unfortunately we picked the one day the kitchen was closed...bugger! The tasting was good as we were the only ones there, we had plenty of attention from the staff and the view all to ourselves. Really took their time explaining all the complexities of the wines to us. Again, we were happy to get a box of our favourites with very reasonable postage costs.

WOW. Took our work team for a Sat lunch at Oakridge and from the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty, even though the restaurant was booked out. Our host very quickly realised we were there for the long haul and set about making us as comfortable as possible. There was no pressure to select 'matching' wines, she preferred to establish what we actually 'liked', and just kept it coming. Sensational wines headed up by the flagship Chardonnay. So so good.

Views from the dining room are spectacular and chef Matt Stone seems to have nailed the menu, somehow making it 'fit' with the surroundings and general ambience. I recommend do not have breakfast, and certainly don't book dinner. This is all you need.

We were pleasantly surprised by the price, which seemed very reasonable in light of where we were, and what we were consuming. To finish off, they do a damn fine coffee, which sounds simple but is often missed regionally.
