My family and I (two girls, 9 and 11) have just returned from an amazing two weeks in Lefkada, including two nights in Hotel Odeon. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to any type of traveller, and particularly to families. Spiros provided such a warm welcome after we arrived by local bus from Nydri. He saw that the girls were tired after a long ride (we were 'backpacking' with the kids) and gave them a glass of orange juice on the house straight away. We were immediately shown to our room on the top floor; a beautiful newly-converted and clean space. We stayed in Room 36, which sits the entire length of part of the building and so has north and south views from two separate balconies. The south view is from the main bedroom and looks out over the lovely new bar/café and gardens straight out to the sea and the amazing landscape. North is the view from the kitchen/lounge area where the girls were staying on a great big converted sofa. Each room has its own bathroom, which the girls loved.
The bar/café is a very modern, chilled place to sit day or night looking out to sea and watching the world go by with great music and lovely food. The breakfast is brilliant, and is clearly made and delivered with care. Everything you can hope for is included, with pastries, fresh fruit and yoghurt, cereals, continental breakfast and warm items as well. We have been to Greek islands in many hotels for the past four years and this is certainly the best breakfast we've tasted so far.
The pool at the front of the hotel, while on the main road, is still perfect for kids and the sun loungers offer a welcome rest. You do not notice the traffic at all as Vassiliki is a relatively small town. We were all really impressed with the vibe of the place, being a combination of beautiful small marina town (c800m east - a 10 min walk), a shore full of cool bars and watersports clubs (right in front of the hotel on the clean and peaceful boardwalk) and traditional tavernas (c300m west in Ponti).
We absolutely loved our stay at Odeon. Spiros kindly drove us back to the bus stop for our return to Nydri, which was a very generous gesture. We even popped back in when we were driving around the island again in the second week, as our eldest had left some items in the room. Spiros found them and returned them to us, and we spent the rest of the day in the wonderful town.
A fantastic jewel in lovely Vassiliki and one we would return to in a flash. Thanks to all the team for a great stay.
