My husband and I celebrated a special anniversary with a stay at Hermitage Bay and the resort delivered everything we were hoping for. Overall, we would go back in a second - only a few minor negatives to our stay.

Romance was easy to achieve - our beautiful, private hillside villa with plunge pool was so lovely that we spent much of our days lounging on the terrace together. We ordered room service breakfast and lunch (small fee) and thoroughly enjoyed our alone time. Also, we did the beachfront, private dinner ($150) on the night of our anniversary and loved every moment of it - so romantic and memorable!

Relaxation began the moment we arrived in Antigua. The expedited line through immigration for Hermitage Bay guests helped greatly. We were then quickly whisked to the resort via private SUV and were checked in while sipping mojitos. The relaxed pace continued throughout our stay as we just did what we wanted at our own pace and were catered to in everything we asked for by the wonderful staff.

Main positives to the resort:
-Incredible views and natural beauty - could not get enough of the views from our plunge pool and terrace!
-Fantastic staff - so friendly and warm! They were so gracious about service and filled our every request with a smile.
-Fresh and delicous food - everything made to order. We really loved the food - the fresh fish, jerk dishes, and ice creams and sorbets were really standouts.

Few negatives:
-Mosquitoes - I was bitten quite badly despite using lots of bug spray and sleeping under the mosquito net. I woke up each morning with new bites. My husband fared much better and only had a few bites total.
-Lighting - the resort really needs to improve the lighting in the rooms. The lamps are so dim that we had to use a flashlight to see into our safe and into the shelves in the closets. Also, they need to add lighted makeup mirrors in the bathroom.
-Bedding - they definitely need new mattresses also - ours seemed to sag to one side.
-Construction - a new condo development is being built on a hillside near the resort. I think that construction noise may be an issue in the near future - we did see and hear some heavy equipment that was starting to build a road for the new development.

Still, overall, an absolutely wonderful vacation - romance and relaxation galore!

What a treasure we found in Hermitage Bay!
We can't say enough about how unbelievable this resort is!
The staff at the bar was fabulous - Anthony always had a smile and a song going on for us. Levique was a fantastic bartender making the best drinks imaginable and always made us feel more than welcome. Linda and Alex were also wonderful.
Loretta and Rosalyn remembered all of our favorites in the restaurant. Vera-or was it Veronica;) -took great care of us even down to placing a foot stool under the table for me! The local Susie's Hot Sauce is a must. The food choices were always varied and impeccable. Much better than our expectations for an all inclusive. This proved to not even be in the same league with other all inclusives, but rather exceptional on every level.
As David H. expressed in his review, the airport greeting and whisking us quickly through customs as others waited in a queue made us feel as if we were V.I.P.s.
Our Hillside suite made us think we were the only ones at this boutique resort. Watching the sunset from the outside shower was nothing short of breathtaking.
Devon's tour by boat (also included) was fascinating and educational.
The staff seem to love their careers, treasure their island and genuinely appreciate catering to your every whelm. What a nice treat to walk around a corner and hear someone speaking to you by name! We are already planning our return.
Unprecedented professionalism!

We decided we wished to return to Antigua to celebrate a special occasion and chose Hermitage Bay. We were not disappointed in any way. Indeed it proved better than we thought.
The staff really make the hotel. They manage to be fully professional but achieve this in a relaxed way that makes you feel comfortable yet pampered. Everything is done with a smile and you feel that you are at a family house party but with all the luxury the hotel has to offer.
The food is varied in its choices, part set menu for a few days and part new each day. All of it is wonderful, accompanied by a good choice of house wine. We enjoyed every meal.
The rooms are spacious and private. Deciding where to sit or lie is the only thing to worry about. Views vary but we were very happy near the bottom of the hill and we had a shorter walk to the hotel facilities. Super clean with all the extras you need.
The hotel is very peaceful and relaxed and a great place to visit if you need to recharge your batteries. However do have a day out with a private driver and see the island. Both St Johns and English Harbour with points of interest in between are well worth seeing. It completes the experience.
We hope to return!!

My wife and I had an unbelievable trip to Hermitage Bay and the staff was a big reason for that. The accommodations were incredible and the food was amazing as well. We would highly suggest this resort to friends and family.

Room tip: We chose a garden suite which was actually perfect for us. It was secluded but right off the beach.
