We absolutely loved this resort! It is secluded, private, quiet and luxurious. We stayed in a bay view villa, nr 43. It had an excellent view over the bay, and I loved watching the tide come in and leave again, you can observe kids playing football on the sand banks and birds looking for shells in the sand. The villas are surrounded with lush tropical vegetation and amongst the trees and bushes you have lots of beautiful birds. The villa had a pool that had a jacuzzi corner and you could take a couple of strokes for swimming even. The villa was very comfortable and even had a desk for work. I also worked outside and the connection was great; I even had a teams meeting, calling in from Thailand to Norway, from the terrace. The food is really good, and the prices was reasonable for a 5 star resort. The Spa was absolutely amazing, the Thail hammam is an Absolut MUST, the sauna, the steam room the wraps and scrubs everything was excellent! The staff at the resort is more than welcoming, sweet and service minded.
Phuket overall is great, the hotel is 20min from old town and 30-40min from the most populare beaches on the west side of the island. We downloaded the app Grab(same functionality as Uber) and easily got around everywhere. There are lots of beaches on the island, parks and you can take a lot...We absolutely loved this resort! We downloaded the app Grab(same functionality as Uber) and easily got around everywhere. There are lots of beaches on the island, parks and you can take a lot of different boat rides (ferries, speed boats, traditional boats) to get to different islands and see the bay. There are tons of things to do in Phuket. I recommend the Phuket Old Town Food Tour (you get so much delicious food and get a great introduction to the Phuketian cuisine), the La Moet boat tour to Phang Nga Bay(it is just amazing lots to see, comfortable ride, good food and company) and A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary (ethical and amazing, you get to feed the elephants on their own terms). In regards to Covid everyone everywhere wears a mask and therefore it felt really safe to move around.
Realistic expectations: We loved Amatara because it wasn’t in the middle of everything, so you have to take a taxi to if you want to do shopping, partying or sightseeing. Because it was tropical and lush you had birds and they are there because of their food, so there are a lot of bugs outside. Some of them sometimes get into the villas for example ants – but this your get everywhere where there is vegetation, birds and animals. The villas are not airtight and shouldn’t be either ;). If you are worried about these things I would recommend to rather stay at a suite in the resort instad of a villa. Because of covid only the restaurant was open for food, and sometimes it took some time for the food to arrive – but this is a minor inconvenience.
In short: We have been to many places around the world but this is one of the few resorts and hotels we absolutely want to come back to! It was amazing and I highly recommend staying at the Amatara Wellness resort!More
