The resort located in Cape Panwa, which you will have to rely on an over-priced local taxi. From the resort to the Phuket old town will cost you around THB800 return and THB1000 to the airport one-way. If you stay at this resort, hiring a car would not be a bad idea (car rental rate is roughly around THB700-1000 a day from AVIS or HERTZ).

We spent one week in one of the spacious Ocean View Pool Villas and it was fantastic. However, some of their villas may not have complete privacy (e.g the one next to the Sun and Moon rooftop bar).

The staff are friendly, but need some more training in providing consistent service and information to their guests. This may seem to be a small thing but it definitely contribute to the guest experience.

Breakfast was good, there is a variety of food for you to enjoy during your stay. To add some excitement, the Thai local menu changes everyday while the western style menu remains fairly consistent.

Hotel grounds are well kept and beautiful and there is a small private beach (don’t expect much).

We had ordered a snack at the pool bar and were not impressed with the quality of the food. This has put us off from eating at the hotel restaurant. However, if you would Iike some good & quality food, we strongly recommend you to visit the Tamarind restaurant at the Pullman hotel next door. We went there twice in two days!!!

Overall, if you are looking for some where peaceful to relax & recharge, the Amatara Wellness Resort may be one to consider.

Room tip: Best to hire a car if you are also want to see other part of Phuket.

One of us tested positive for covid and we were given the option to fly back home by Thai healthcare staff. Where other hotels would let you stay until you could book flights out, the hotel manager Manit forced us out. After assuring us that we would be refunded for our unused days, on the last day they reneged on that.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback from your recent stay. Our best wishes for your partner for a speedy recovery from Covid-19.

Please allow us to clarify as the protocols have been set from the authorities and our priority is to ensure the guest who considered as a high risk is also well-taken care and not wait until guest has any bad symptom. If one tested positive and the other one stayed together which required to be quarantined in a registered hospitel as otherwise it won't be covered from the insurance company the guest purchased from. Moreover, guest is required to stay in hospitel at least 10 days(count from day 1 that move into) in order to be able to fly home as the test will be done again by local officer.

The local authorities managed to confirm and sent out transportation to pick you up on the evening and that you were due to depart the next day as per original booking, that's why the last night of stay was unable to be refunded.

We do apologize as the there might be some misunderstanding for the communication and deeply sorry for the unexpected inconvenience caused during your stay.

Tropical Regards,
Amatara

Amatara impressed from the moment we arrived. The hotel taxi waited for us for three hours at the airport with no mention of the delay.
The location is stunning, with incredible views of the sea from reception, over the infinity pool and out to the distant iconic islands.

We stayed in a bay view pool villa and I don’t think we can ever travel without a private pool again! Three of us travelled, myself and my 8 & 9 year old so the 24 hour room isolation was no hardship with a private pool, attentive room service and the glorious bay view. The rooms are very well equipped and serviced, super clean and many amenities.

Amatara is a wellness resort so has a good mix of guests. I spoke with guests who were on complete programs which sounded delightful.

Although The Grill restaurant wasn’t operational, the quality of food in the restaurant and varying locations that you can choose to eat (beach, pool, restaurant or room) made up for it.
There were plenty of vegan choices and a varied and tasty array to suit all palates. The Thai breakfast stole me heart after the first couple of days. Broth and noodles with vegetables is the only way to start the day now.

Although the hotel beach is small, it’s safe to swim and great for kids.

The only negative I had was a mix up in spa appointments as a friend joined me from another hotel 1 hour away - we ended up not getting to experience the spa which was frustrating but it was a genuine miscommunication between reception and spa, based on my availability around kids club.

We were in the hotel for New Years Eve and they put on such a show with lots of outside entertainment.

Covid regulations were followed the whole time. Any issues were quickly resolved and the staff were impeccable. It was overall probably one of our favourite resorts.

I highly recommend the pool villas as they change the whole vibe of your hol. We stayed in 41 and it was super private - not overlooked at all.

I loved our stay and hope to return again.

After all the hassles of applying for Thai Pass, undergoing numerous PCR tests, and worrying about covid on the flight, I couldn’t believe we ended up with this horrifying hotel:
- slow check-in. We arrived at 2:30pm but didn’t get the room until 4pm. They didn’t even offer us a place to sit and we were so lost. After complaining, they offered us a 600 Baht coupon for the overpriced 3000 Baht/hour spa. Why would we spend more money on a lousy experience?
- damp and mouldy room. The room was extremely damp and the AC was super loud. The mattress was very hard. The next morning we found a worm the size of an adult index (or middle) finger with lots of legs in the bed! I then developed swollen and itchy skins so bad that the hotel had to call a nurse (she’s nice and is the only good part during our stay).
- poor food and breakfast. It’s the worst breakfast I’ve had in any 4/5 star hotel. When we asked for a cup of coffee, they pointed to a machine and asked us to make it ourselves.
- nonexistent service. The staff appeared to be cold and stressed. I guess they were tired of people complaining too.
It’s difficult times for everyone. I only regret that we made more it difficult for us by staying here.
