When planning our trip to explore the wineries in southern Styria, I struggled to find resources and advice on how to get around. We absolutely loved the Weinlandhof! Gamlitz is a charming town, walkable with a few restaurants and a large grocery store. It is a perfect base for exploring this exquisite part of the world. The owners of the Weinlandhof were welcoming, warm and helpful. They arranged for the free taxi to pick us up in Ehrenhausen. They delivered a bottle of champagne to our room to help celebrate our anniversary, enjoyed on the balcony enjoying the view. They helped us map out a great day on the eBikes. Favorite wineries were Regele and Pulz. We rented the little electric car the next day 20 euros and drove all around enjoying lunch at Tscheppe.
We ate dinner at the Weinlandhof both nights and had fantastic food! They have both innovative new dishes as well as excellent classic examples of Styrian food.
The overall experience in this area far exceeded anything I expected. Amazing food, lovely dry white wines, stunning views, friendly people! The wineries open their doors and give seemingly endless tastings for no fee. You will likely be tasting with one of the owners. And the facilities are beautiful, modern. The buschenshanke is a must.More
