we were dining here on a red letter day voucher and we were made to feel welcome from start to finish, the food was delicious and the service wonderful, it was a very quiet night in the restaurant but we really enjoyed it.

The spa is nice and the treatments are executed well. The pool is lovely as are the rooms. We also ate at the restaurant and I couldn't believe how poor the food was. Nothing was seasoned properly and everything lacked flavour and finesse. I had a chicken Wellington which was served in raw pastry and was mined chicken which made it feel like I was eating baby food as well as having zero flavour. There were four of us who ate and no ones food was great...really disappointing especially for the price. I would definitely go to the hotel again but would never eat in the restaurant.

We booked an executive room here for two nights, and could have stayed a lot longer! The room and the bed were most comfortable and we were able to relax totally. (Our only minor disappointment was that we had only one hand towel and one flannel between two!, though we did have two bath towels. Maybe this was a mistake??) We ate dinner on both evenings in the Lake Restaurant, and found the choice of meals and the quality of the food excellent. We really appreciated the breakfast, too, including a great variety of fresh fruit and a good choice of cooked food. The staff were all most helpful, in particular the receptionist who helped us with our trip into Canterbury and gave us excellent advice. She also very kindly carried our (heavy!) suitcase up two flights of stairs for us! We will definitely make a return visit!

We visited the hotel last night, for a Jersey Boys tribute with 3 course dinner included situated in the Heritage Room. The room was pleasant enough for the function, the dance floor seemed a little small but perfectly adequate. The meal was awful, the starters of goats cheese on a crouton, (the crouton was wet and soggy and hard to cut), The chicken was a dry, tasteless lump and the spotted dick was like cardboard with a weak custard. But the worst of the night was the entertainment, the Jersey Boys act was excellent what we saw as it was on for 30 mins with a couple of extra songs. As the dinner seemed to run over time the waiting staff were walking back and forth whilst the act was on, so the little time they were on we couldn't see. The night seemed to go on forever and people left long before the end as there was nothing to watch. It would have been good to know it was only a short act as I doubt we would have booked or we would have planned for a shorter evening i.e. ordered taxi to pick us up earlier
