Visited tonight after a recommendation, and didn't disappoint! The food was amazing, presentation was lovely, the chef even came out to ask how it was. Would definitely go back next time we’re down visiting!

I can’t stress what a superb experience visiting this pub was, found on trip advisor and having seen the mostly positive reviews about the food and the fact that they are very much a dog friendly pub we decided it was well worth a visit whilst we were staying locally on a family break.

On arrival we were seated in the bar area as opposed to the dining room due to the fact we had our two puppies with us but this is no problem, plenty of space and a very rustic country type drinking space made us feel very comfortable.

We did have a few issues with availability food-wise, there was no gammon available on the night due to a table before us having consumed the last of it (we did see it presented to them and it did look fantastic so that’s only right) and also only one portion of mussels available when really we were after two. I should stress that this is completely acceptable to us because when someone is cooking local ingredients with care and attention as they deserve, to hold too much stock and possibly end up wasting anything is criminal.

The food throughout our party of six was amazing in its entirety, well cooked, plentiful and served beautifully. This is not at all like some recent reviews I’ve seen so please take these with a pinch of salt.

All in all we had a really superb meal, we were hosted in such a warm, friendly way even down to chit chat with members of staff and drinks recommendations/talking about produce used in our meals.

Thanks for having us, we hope to visit again one day!
