Off the main road so it is very quiet. Most rooms have balconies with views. There is a large garden and plenty of outside seating for eating breakfast or dinner. Also not far to walk to other restaurants in Smerek.

Room tip: Most rooms have balconies with views so choose whether you like sun in the morning or evening.

The rooms, the views, the surroundings, I just loved it! The rooms are all individually decorated, and what is amazing, is that the website shows them all! I adored the room with the butterflies, so we booked it and got it. The rooms are not big, but perfectly adequate, with lovely furnitures and colour scheme including the butterflies! There is a couch, a small balcony and wardrobes as well as a small, but very good, double bed, two duvets and I slept like a log, plenty of pillows too! Breakfast was nice, plenty to choose from including freshly cut fruit. The contents of the buffet changed from day to day, which is really nice. It was possible to order hot breakfast too. It was also possible to order packed lunch, which we did. Lovely, with two rolls with plenty of cheese and ham, as well as vegetables, a small bar of chocolate, an apple and a bottle of water. Perfect for a hike in the nearby mountains. A good idea is to ask for espresso, cappucion etc if you do not fancy instant coffee. The hotel grounds are wonderful, with restful gardens really well kept. You can start your hikes from just outside, or you can travel by car or bus to other starting points. It is so nice and quiet. We'd love to come back! The only drawback being the lack of a lift, so if you are not too fond of stairs, this might not be the place for you. There is also a flight of stairs to get to the reception from outside. Locally brewed beer on sale in the restaurant which also serves dinner. In the reception you can buy good maps for hiking in the mountains and surrounding area, this is especially handy as the local tourist information is some km away and not open on Sundays, not even during high season. The staff were very friendly, and the staff in the reception spoke both German and English.

Room tip: Choose a room facing the south (i.e. the mountains).

After arriving late on Ryan Air flight from East Mids we had one night at the new Hilton at the airport before heading south east to the mountains.

I was getting a bit concerned about the appearance of the hotels en route as they seemed both small and well worn.

This hotel signpost was a little tricky to spot from the road and when we drive up the small road/drive my reticence increased. The outside of the hotel is imposing in size. It's made of lots and lots of wood which give it a massive log cabin appearance. The car park is spacious and located at the foot of the hotel reception steps.

Access to reception is actually up a steep set of stairs (didn't see any disabled access) so beware of humping big bags up!

Our reception was friendly and smiley (and in good if not perfect English) which was a welcome change actually from the so far, rather un-smiley, serious not-so-much-English speaking Poles we'd met in the supermarkets en route.
My fears were proving unfounded!
Phew!!

The interior of the hotel was warm and cosy and decorated in an attractive sort of tyrollean way (I'm not up on my decor terms but want to convey that there were nice solid wooden upholstered chairs and lovely thick clean red carpets.

Our room was a good size with a little ante room where one can hang coats and put cases or whatever. We had a wardrobe and (locked) fridge. The key card was the modern system where you just press the card on the lock to gain access.

The bathroom was actually very small but this didn't pose any problems for us. Dove soap and shower gel/ shampoos were provided via the wall mounted dispensers. Nice fluffy white towels.

We're glad we opted to pay a little extra to get a balcony as the view over the green fields was wonderful.

Our twin beds were actually one small double bed and one pull out sofa maybe not massively comfortable. The quilts could be thicker I reckon. Room was warm but I wasn't as warm as I would have liked in bed. I am cold blooded tho and feel the cold so maybe take this into account!

We booked for an evening meal. The menu was good with plenty of local dishes on offer in several incarnations. Pork this or that .. trout this or that...Sadly my husband's first choice wasn't available but we really enjoyed what we had and the food was plentiful. Good portions-actually after having some great beetroot cream soup I couldn't finish my main course of locally sourced trout but that's me!

Breakfast was set at the table with again, masses of food. We'd expected the normal ubiquitous buffet but no-there were plates of fish, cheeses, hams, fruits, pancakes, salads -one fresh undressed tomatoes, cucumber and radishes and a bowl of mixed salad dressed in oil. There were relishes and mustards to compliment the dishes. Each of us were automatically served with a hard boiled egg in an egg cup. The waitress then additionally offered us sausages or eggs: we took both and again received a large helping of scrambled eggs and a plate of about 6 medium sized frankfurter style sausages. A big basket of bread offered about 6 different types: both sliced and buns. Wow!
Tea and coffee also helped us to wash the breakfast down. We only got one cup of coffee each but am sure we could have had more if we'd asked. All either served at the table already or waitress served piping hot.

After dinner we played pool. Noticed a cute play area in the guest lounge for young kids. Nice touch.

So, we didn't need our picnic lunch and we didn't eat dinner on our second night either as we were still full from all the food we'd already eaten and wanted to save ourselves to feel hungry for breakfast on our second day!

My husband checked into the dos for an hour in their fabulous, luxurious sauna, jacuzzi, salt cave complex. He was given a separate dedicated bathrobe and fresh towel and relaxed alone in this max 4 guest/session facility.

Go to this hotel and enjoy! Feel sure you will!

We wanted somewhere that we would feel comfortable spending time if the weather turned nasty. It did, and we did, so no complaints. It might be a little pricey, but I guess you pay for the location, but aside from that there were no complaints. Breakfast was decent, staff were helpful, restaurant was interesting and the garden was a real pleasure. Recommended if not on a budget.
