My family of four stayed here with another family of four. We had a one bedroom apartment that is connected to a studio apartment. (Difference: one bedroom apartment consists of one smallish master room with king size bed, a windowless room with two bunk beds, a two piece toilet, a shower-cum-bathtub, a living room and dining room. Studio apt consists of one big master room that comes with pantry and a regular bathroom-toilet.) We actually didnt realise this was the configuration at the time of booking, thought it is a big apartment with three rooms. but wasnt an issue in the end anyway.

I love everything about it, esp cos we took lessons at Go Snow which is literally just outside the hotel. Also love the onsite onsen- went twice a day! The restaurant staff was wonderful too, big contrast to the nonchalent ones at the restaurant at Aya hotel opposite. And there are great eateries all within walking distance.

If there is anything downside at all, i wld mention the bed- too soft for us and gave us lower backaches in the beginning.

In all, a great stay that suits all our needs!

We just completed a 6 night stay here and from the moment we got off the bus at the welcome centre we were blown away by the staff. Took us to the hotel and delivered our bags to our room while we checked in. During our stay nothing was too small and they would take us anywhere we wanted to go and pointed out places they recommended. Syris was particularly helpful. Breakfast was good, from a menu rather than your usual hotel buffet which I liked. We also got a packed breakfast on our last day as we had to leave early.

We had room 120 which was a superior room on the first floor, looked out to the bottom of the ski slope. I wouldn’t have wanted a basement floor room as you wouldn’t see anything. Had a nice big deep bath and the room had lots of cupboard space. Apple TV and a Bose speaker were really cool additions to the room. The location was perfect, right by the lifts and near lots of restaurants and the convenience store. The onsen was lovely, however the pool wasn’t warm enough to swim in which was a bummer as from the pictures I was looking forward to this the most. The free laundry facilities were good and so was the ski locker room downstairs.

We aren’t 100% sure whether it was good value for money at $600 a night as Niseko was very expensive in general but we had a nice week all the same

I reviewed this 12m before and commented on how great the staff are and how the location is the best in Hirafu (Ski-in, Ski-out). Despite the fact that the staff have changed, they were all still wonderful - more English on Front Desk vs the Australian crowd last year and more Japanese staff in the Restaurant.

Onsen is brilliant also either post a days's skiing or pre breakfast. Restaurant is great all hours of the day - like the new 'Happy Hour' and dinner is very good indeed. Take out coffee in the morning nice but would be nice to be also able to take a pastry to go too. Front Desk Staff are very efficient in offering concierge type services - Restaurant reservations, Airport Transfer etc. Also flexible in enabling a late check-out which meant a final morning's activity on the Slopes.

Best location in Hirafu, Staff brilliant, an improved restaurant offering and an amazing Onsen which was less busy than last year (not sure it should be open to non guests).
Very recommendable, will stay there again certainly. Rooms are good, ours was on 5th FL, lots of space for a family of 5 with nice touched like the heated cupboard for damp ski jackets.

Room tip: Higher Floors better, less noise and potentially a view if not snowing

Hi Paddy and Lien,

We are thrilled that you and your family enjoyed another winter holiday with us! Thank you for such a positive review. The staff here are very passionate about what Niseko has to offer and love to share this information with our guests. We agree the onsen is definitely better when less crowded, so you will be happy to know we will continue to only open it to in house guests during busy periods.
We will be passing on all your valuable feedback to The Vale Bar and Grill.

Thank you again, we look forward to seeing you next season!

Kind regards,

Jodie Parker and Ruth Lawrence

With the massive amount of new construction going on in Niseko, it is easier than ever to find a hotel room. The Vale is over 5 years old but quite modern. The big draw is it’s location, near the center of town but 25 meters from a lift. It has an onsen, a restaurant and a ski room. The main lobby is small like much of the hotel which is tight. Our room was a studio which was fine except that while there were two small closets, there was no other storage for clothes like drawers or a dresser. We wound up storing much of our cloths in the kitchen drawers. Not ideal. The bathroom was also small but very modern although the design of the shower caused the bathroom floor to get soaked. The bed was very comfortable and the room had enough other amenities to make it livable. Breakfasts were included but the menu was a bit limited. The bar was very nice, there was a ski shop right in the hotel, and the staff was efficient and polite. With all of the new lodging that has been built recently, there are other more spacious and luxurious options with ski in ski out access so The Vale while a very nice option, is hardly the only one or even the best.

Dear Robert T,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it is very much appreciated.

The Vale was built in 2009 and was one of the first hotels here in Hirafu! Celebrating our 10 year anniversary over the summer, we had a full interior refurbishment.

Our studio rooms are the smaller type of accomaodation we offer at 33 - 39 m². For a larger more spacious stay we do recommend booking the apartment room next time at 76 m². I am sorry to hear that you did not find the wardobe spacious enough, in future please do let us know and we will supply extra storage.

We hope you had safe onward travels from Niseko and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Warm Regards,

Kozue Aoki

The appartement is centrally located and a true ski-in and out with excellent services and staffs! We stayed at a 2 bedrooms unit, the unit was clean and well-equipped. The onsen was a real treat after a day of ski! On site ski rental and school are pluses! Proximity to many restaurants and convenient store.
