Because we went in the off season it was nice and quite. Down side of the off season is that all the shops, bars & most restaurants & the castle itself were closed. Still I enjoyed the walk through the old town. It makes for a nice stop if you pass it towards your final destination.

Well worth a detour if in the area, Capalbio is an unspoilt hilltop village with stunning views across the rolling hills of olive groves down to the nearby coast. There is a maze of tightly packed winding lanes, a surprising choice of places to eat not to mention an excellent gelateria. Comparatively untouristy, it releases its charm easily.

Beautiful view of the sea coast and of the huge green tuscany valley. Middle age walls, The Tower, the Cathedral and tipical old narrow street and beautiful small houses in the historic city center.

The old center of this perched village is a must see, including a walk on the ramparts looking over the olive groves and out to the sea. Very good restaurants at reasonable prices too.
