This place is a MUST if you are in Sri Lanka. Is still one of the few "off the beaten track" places remaining that will have you wowing for the whole day. Prasad and his wife Gayani have made a beautiful Victorian look on the outside + cosy feeling in the rooms to ensure your visit to Sinharaja is wonderful. Comfortable beds in spacious room with a big window facing the forest. They both are very supportive & friendly and offer excursions to the mistery! I was picked up and dropped down on arrival and departure. Don't miss this natural jewel!

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor rooms to get the majestic views to the misty forest in the morning.

If you’re traveling with your car, it is imposible to came all the way to this hotel but that is not a big deal cause hotel organizes tuc tuc transport to the property free of charge.
You are really situated in the edge of the jungle:-)
Many beautiful sounds of birds, frogs and crickets...
in the evening we have sat outside in front of hotel, on cozy iron chairs, drinking fresh mint tea and wonderful home made mix juice and enoyed the silence while little fire was burning for beautiful atmosphere.
No matter to jungle, there haven’t been mosqitos and we were very supprised.
We didn’t eat dinner but we have ate breakfast that was very good (nice juice, eggs, butter and marmelade).
Staff, man and woman are taking care of this accomodation and they are doing it very well, they are very friendly and at disposal.
Rooms are clean and very nice, bathrooms have bath tube, there is enough warm water and rooms do have AC, ventilators and small fridge.
This lady has arranged for us guiding tour for visiting Sinharaja Forest Reserve for 25$ per person - it includes entrance fee and guide, for 4 hours and lunch after tour.
The tour started at 7.30am and has finished at 11.30am.
We had very good guide, an older man who is passionate about plants and animals.
In the whole hotel and area near there is no wi-fi but there will be next year...
You must see this beautiful place!

The location is very unique and just one step away from the Sinharaja Forest. The rooms were super clean and were equipped with all the facilities. The room had a glass wall which is lovely and the fire place in the middle of the land is really nice to have a glass of wine next to it.
The hike was superb and we spent over 2 hours at the water.
Owners were a lovely family. We requested Rice with Coconut Sambol and Dry Fish for dinner after the hike and they never refused. The staff was so friendly. Food was really yummy and loved the dinning area which was just next to the forest.
This was our 2nd time at this place and we will definitely visit again.
I recommend Sinharaja Forest Edge to anyone who wish to have a great relaxing vacation.

The road to reach the lodge was already an adventure - our driver could not manage most of it, so the lodge sent a tuc-tuc to pick us up and we had to walk the last 300 m ... the location is very beautiful, though, immersed in greenery and just a couple of minutes to the entry to the rainforest ... our room was comfortable, although it was just next to the kitchen and therefore not very quiet at times ... the pond and the woods opposite the room were full of life, we saw lots of animals even before our trail into the rainforest ... the village is a short walk away and it's possible to take beautiful pictures at dawn ... the food was good although not the best we had in Sri Lanka, the walk in the rainforest organised by the lodge was very exciting and the guide very knowledgeable, it was definitely worth a good tip ... To be honest, I didn't score them higher because I didn't like their attitude towards the stray dogs hanging around the property - even the pups ... These poor animals have been abandoned by locals and starving them to death, even though there are many leftovers from the tourists' lunch and dinner, doesn't seem like a solution to me - spaying and neutering are the only ways forward and there are charities doing it for free even in Sri Lanka (see Animal SOS Sri Lanka, for one) ... so, the comments of the owner left a bitter after taste in my mouth for something that would have been otherwise very pleasant. By the way, I asked for the leftovers of my lunch to be packed and I fed them to two very sick-looking strays just round the corner from the lodge, I would invite everyone to do the same!
