We had a very good experience with Thai Airways staff during our trip from Bangkok to Chiangmai. My wife had accident before flight and was unable to walk normally. During check-in at Suvarnabhumi airport, the young male staff at check-in counter was very kind and helpful. He tried to find the front row seat to move my wife from the back row seat but was unable to do so because the flight was fully booked. Therefore, he arranged wheelchair service for my wife to the gate. Unfortunately, this flight would depart from bus gate not normal gate with Jet bridge and my wife was unable to walk up by stair to airplane. Thai Airways staff at the gate were very helpful and kind enough to prepare the Lift bus to take my wife to the plane’s side door and also prepare special wheelchair that can move in aisle of the plane as we were seat in Row 54. The cabin staff were very attentive and helpful as well. The flight was good, arrived a little late due to heavy traffic at airport of departure. The service by cabin staff was very good and friendly indeed. They served us with snack (green curry bun - very tasty) and a bottle of mineral water. We really appreciated excellent service by Thai Airways staff both ground and flight crew.
Terrible airline. I paid an extra £1000 for an extra 18kg of luggage. I tried paying for the luggage online but couldn't buy it. I even emailed them and got a template response.
I chose Thai because I had heard good things about the airline. However my wife and I were disappointed with the quality of the service, food and inflight entertainment.
Disappointing, plane to BKK was a new fit out but the return was old with terrible legroom and uncomfy seats. Only given a tinyblanket and pillow, apparently socks and eyemasks available if you asked according to website never mentioned once onboard. Food options not great and poorly thought out, pasta with a side plate of pasta? Ask for a soft drink and you got a cup filled from a can, but not the rest of the can. Cabin crew enforced darkness for majority of a day flight, perhaps to prevent passengers asking for service as they disapeared for long intervals. Felt like cost shaving exercise on all the things thay make long haul bearable. Plane was also roasting hot until after takeoff so assume ac was broken.
Good points , flights on time and plane out to BKK had newer fitout so more legroom, but same service issues. In flight entertainment ok, but bring your own headphones as supplied were poor disposable wired earpods not headsets. Lack of legroom on return means I will never fly with them again out of choice.
