Southwest Air & Southwest Vacations:
On 09-20-2024 we arrived at SJC. Our flight WN4394 to HNL was delayed 30 minutes. We arrived late in HNL and luckily our prepaid shuttled returned for us after delivering on-time passengers. Our package also included prepaid transportation to and from for 2. We arrived at the Hilton Hawaiin Village (HHV). The front desk clerk told us our prepaid room since 01-10-2024 was not available. HHV offered us an upgrade at a cost of $110.25 per night more to stay in the same tower reserved for us. I felt helpless, tired, conned because that's not what we agreed too and paid for from Southwest Travel. So, I agreed. Where else were we going to go in such a short time notice. I felt trapped and they knew it.
On 09-24-24 The employees of HHV went on strike. At 0600 hours I was awoken to persons shouting. I exited my 14th floor room and looked outside and saw several employees picketing. They were using bullhorns & amplified public address systems to chant military style cadences. From 0600 hours till 2300 hours every day. There was no room service, housekeeping service, restaurant service (operated by HHV). parking Vallet service. pool / beach towel service. The picketing interfered with transportation services. Tour buses, Taxi service and ride share all delayed or couldn't get through the picketers. We had to leave the property to get morning coffee as did many others. We had to leave the property to use a tour bus and a ride share. I'm sure I forgot some of the other things but I'm frustrated because this was supposed to be special. It was our 25th wedding anniversary / honeymoon.
On 09-26-2024 our flight WN1204 was originally set for departure at 12:10 p.m., the pilot announced that there was an engine problem during "push off" two times, and due to that failure, we would be placed on a "new" plane. We deplaned, and at approximately 2:50 p.m. we boarded the "new' plane, and we sat in that plane at the gate for 2.5 hours until we finally got cleared for take-off at 5:42 p.m. The duration of the flight was 5.5 hours from HNL to SJC for a total of approximately eleven hours. Additionally, the air conditioner on the plane is not the greatest in the Hawaiian heat. There was no food offered during the time we sat in the “old” plane, and in the “new” plane we were only offered water after an hour and a half of waiting for the “old” flight to be canceled and the “new” flight to be put on the “computer” with the flight plan. Once we were in the air and the flight attendants were able to provide snacks, we did receive snacks. After 11 hours, snacks.
I do believe this qualifies for a refund. I've read the Travel Protection flyer and under delays to and from destination seems to fit. Now about HHV, I do feel I was bait and switched after paying Southwest Vacations for this vacation package. They should waive upgrade fees and all resort fees. Package cost us $6K including Business class flights.
All southwest offers you is a $100.00 voucher and the do not want to hear your complaint. Just brush you off and hope you go away.
