The flight was 3 hours delayed and, according to the Croatian Airline, you can and I quote from their website: "If your Croatia Airlines flight was delayed or canceled, you may be eligible for compensation under European Regulation EC 261. The amount of compensation you can receive depends on the distance of your flight:
Up to €250: If your flight was up to 1,500 kilometers
Up to €400: If your flight was between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometers
Up to €600: If your flight was more than 3,500 kilometers
You may be eligible for compensation if your flight:
Was delayed by more than three hours."
I applied for this, and it took them three months to respond:
"We would like to express our sincere regrets for the unpleasant situation that accompanied your trip from Split to Zagreb, flight OU381, on August 29th, 2024.
We fully recognize the importance of on-time performance and understand that flight schedule changes inconvenience our customers. No matter how much we would like to operate according to the timetable, we regret to say that, unfortunately, there are certain unpredictable situations that carriers are not able to avoid.
Please be informed that the mentioned flight was delayed due to extraordinary circumstances. Since such situation is caused by a cause outside the airline’s sphere and it is considered as extraordinary circumstance, as per applicable regulations the carrier is not obliged to pay any financial compensation.
Also, the airport staff are the worst; rude, unpleasant, uninformed. Overall, as a frequent traveler, I can surely say that this is one of the worst airlines and airports (both Split and Zagreb; Zadar and Pula at least have okay personnel) and I will avoid them in the future.
