To book a vegetarian meal you need to ring the international customer service line on their website: 0086-21-95530, the call will start off in Chinese but don't be put off! Wait for the English service option, then you can get through to a rep who can book you a vegetarian/vegan meal. They speak good English! It took me a while of phoning different numbers to find that this one worked.
Absolutely horrendous. No alcohol, no snacks, curdled coffee. Main meals were disgusting. Try other airlines. Staff were polite
I was determined not to use another Chinese airline after having awful experience with Air China. But because this was by far the cheapest flight available by miles, we chose this airline, thinking as long as they would fly us in one piece. Unfortunately this airline was also disappointing. They did fly use in one piece without any major issues. So that was good.
The bad experience: how can you run out of hand soap in the toilets? The toilets are not kept clean; the bin is overflowing, no soap, the floor is wet…. It is just not hygienic. When I mentioned to staff that there was no hand soap, they said we ran out. Can you find it in another toilet somewhere else?
Food was disgusting for all the flights. Can you not offer a plain food so it is more edible for everyone? You’d think Chinese takeaway, yum. The inflight food was just barely edible. Also there were some snacks and wipes that were out of date.
Inflight entertainment: good that there was one. There aren’t any new releases. There were Dune (not 2), Hunger Games etc. So we would recommend bringing your own entertainment.
We would choose this airline if there was absolutely no other alternative, just bearing in mind to bring my own food and hand sanitiser.
Best Airline ever. No question about it. Anyone who DARES to challenge China Eastern Airlines is nothing but a mere fool. Impeccable service. My senile old man of a DAD filled in his First name wrong. After some calling back & Forth with CEA, a very nice and friendly Chinese lady helped us out and changed my dad's name on the flight ticket. Free of charge. Will never forget. Definitely fly this airline, they are very forgiving for FOOLISH Mistakes! 10/10 would recommend.
