I have decided I need to leave a review for China Eastern because before my trip, I was nervously scrolling through nightmare reviews and wondering if I had made a huge mistake. I flew from London Gatwick to Shanghai Pudong, and then connected to another China Eastern flight to Fukuoka, Japan.
Total price for my return tickets from trip.com were just under £450 each for me and my three friends, which was miles cheaper than anything else available. Both long haul flights departed on time.
The plane was absolutely fine, though the entertainment system was a bit dated, there were still a number of movies and TV shows to choose from in English or with English subtitles. The crew were pleasant enough without being overbearing, and were happy to supply us with as many drinks as we liked.
We received 2 meals during the flight, both of which were Chinese style with a choice between chicken or pork, I believe I had noodles and then a stir fried rice type dish, food was honestly very good and all three of us were impressed by it. (Not sure if there is a vegetarian option however). The drink options were quite basic, but we were given plenty of water and had the choice of Coca Cola, fruit juices or lemonade each time they passed through the cabin.
Finally, I want to say that I was panicked about my transfer time in Shanghai, as trip.com told me 1 hour 50 minutes was quite a short transfer window. We made our connection easily, it only took around 30 mins from getting off the plane to being through security ready for the second flight.
Overall, I was really pleasantly surprised by my experience and would definitely use them again to fly to Japan as what you get for the price is a great deal.
